1974 Dunstall Norton Commando 850. Purchased as pictured with the Black body work (which I still have and will go with the bike). The Dunstall body work was removed, and I had planned on getting it painted, while I rode it. A new fuel tank was sourced from Legendary Motorcycles, painted and installed. There is a new seat, fenders, tires, chain, sprockets, voltage regulator. The oil tank was rebuilt by CNW, and a new, anti-sumping timing cover (MKIII) was sourced from Norvil. A new NOS master cylinder, and rebuilt wheel cylinder were installed, along with a Pazon electronic ignition and rebuilt instruments. A new Dunstall 2-1-2 header system is installed, with older (but nice) Dunstall mufflers. Almost all of the old parts were saved. The Norton rides fine, and starts easily. Another project forces this sale.

Up for sale in time for the Holidays is a restored Norton Atlas 750, loaded with every imaginable period Dunstall bit. The bike was first imported to Berliner on June 3, 1966 as a "Norton Atlas 750" according to VMCC records. It was restored by a former Norton dealer in the mid-80s as a Dunstall Dominator, with many authentic, period Dunstall parts. The cost to buy and professionally restore a standard/stock-equipped Atlas is at least equal to the buy-it-now price. To duplicate this bike would no doubt be quite a bit more, assuming you had the time and could even find all the Dunstall items presented here. And if you don't like the Dunstall cosmetics (fairing, tank and seat), then simply replace them with readily-available Manx-inspired or stock pieces for a more traditional look, but still with the hot, Dunstall-ized motor, shouldered alloy wheels, Dunstall swept backs and silencers, and modified brake. The Motorcycle Mechanics magazine cover photo and the black and white 1966 Dunstall Dominator catalog photo are just to illustrate how close this bike is to the real, period Dunstall machine. This bike is in very good cosmetic and mechanical condition, with minimal use since restoration. There's some "shelf" wear here and there (see photos of two blemishes on the fairing lower and cracks on the right ear of the fairing upper, behind the windscreen). The bike could use a professional detailing, but is still very clean, showing just under 40 miles since restoration in the mid-80s by a former Norton dealer, who I purchased the bike from five years ago. The bike was serviced in 2012 by NYCNorton and the sale will include a new Yuasa battery. For a featherbed Norton twin with a stamped steel primary chain case, it's relatively oil tight (only a few drops after running). The large gap between the top of the rear wheel and the rear fender in the photos is just a result of the rear suspension being at full extension with the bike on its center stand. Off the stand, it has a tight, road-hugging stance. I encourage would-be buyers to inspect the bike personally. I have described what comes to mind as far as condition, but cannot be held responsible for every nick or scratch or stress crack; this is an older restoration.Special Equipment:Modified 2LS front brake (cooling scoop and ventilation holes)Borrani shouldered alloy wheelsDunstall swept backs and silencers, originals with name on the backDunstall 5-gallon fiberglass tankDunstall-type fairing and seatFloat bowl extensionsCarb velocity stacksDunstall high compression pistonsDunstall camDunstall headFinned alloy intake tractsRear sets, shift linkageAlloy fendersDunstall clip-ons and headlight brackets Girling shocksSmiths gauges5/16" chain adjusters (upgraded from 1/4" stock)Terms and conditions:The Atlas is sold on a clean, signed-over Massachusetts title. This is a near 50 year old motorcycle and no warranty is expressed or implied. It is sold as-is. Your bid or offer is a commitment to buy, not an option to buy, so please ask any questions before bidding/buying. I will not crate the bike, but I will make myself available to meet with the transporter of your choice. The bike is available for viewing by appointment in the NYC area; delivery is also possible within the Tri-State area, but coordinate this with me before bidding/buying. I reserve the right to end the auction early for any reason. Check my feedback and buy with confidence. Good luck!

I bought this off the Michigan Norton Club President Dave Smith about 12 years ago. He was in a fatal accident and his collection was sold off. I purchased this Triumph Dunstall her personally restored, a 1969 AJS Stormer and a 1967 Norton P11 he restored. I have since sold all but the Triumph. Now it is time for it to find a good home. Complete rebuilt of motor & trans, brakes, electrical, suspension. Motor is a racing combination of the TR6R Motor Case with a T120 Heads and twin racing carbs. It is a beautifully executed combination of a low mileage 1968 Triumph Bonneville and a Dunstall package specifically designed for Triumph and the race track. The Racing components include the powder coated frame, stunning Dunstall alloy tanks, Dunstall exhaust and factory racing alloy rims. She is extremely well built with a handsome fork system and exhaust system. Again, this motorcycle has been fully, mechanically & cosmetically restored to museum quality. The bike has not been raced or run (except for a start up check out procedure limited road testing) or ridden since the complete restoration. The speedometer shows 234 break-in miles. The beautiful alloy rims really look great on this bike. In summary, full mechanical restoration, beautifully finished Dunstall racing package and a very rare motorcycle indeed. 1974 Dunstall Norton Commando 850. Freshly painted and matched to the original blue. The oil tank was rebuilt by CNW, (and they did their gear box cover polishing and seal modifications) A new, anti-sumping timing cover (MKIII) was sourced from Norvil. A new NOS master cylinder, and rebuilt wheel cylinder were installed, along with a Pazon electronic ignition and rebuilt Speedometer and tachometer. A new Dunstall 2-1-2 header system is installed. New chain and sprockets. New cables. New tires on what I believe to be the original Borriani Record Alloy rims. The center stand is correct as are the fork stops, rear sets. Almost all of the old parts were saved and come with the bike The engine and gearbox have matching numbers. The Norton Club of England has no record of this bike, although the bike seems to have been titled a “Dunstall” Clear Florida title. Side covers are not original. This Norton rides fine, and starts easily.

For your consideration is a beautiful example of a '72 Norton Commando Combat edition. This bike is sorted. 1 kick start as you can see in the attached video. Upon review the bike seems to have an unlimited parts list, though I'm sure there is a bottom somewhere... A joy to ride and even better to listen to with the original Dunstall pipes. This bike was made to a cafe style, though I think that term is overused nowadays.. Condition is very hard to describe. I would say it is likely the best rider condition one could find, but not Concours. The pictures and video probably should do more of the talking... Parts: - Dunstall Exhaust - Brand new Avons with fresh stainless spokes & nipples along with polished hubs. Beautiful wheels to say the least! - Norvil stainless steel rearsets - Vernier isolastics front and rear - Dave Taylor head steady with spring - New England manf. dual racing seat - Stainless seat knobs - Clubman low handle bars - Oil pressure gauge with bracket - Halogen high power headlight - Magura master brake cylinder - Stainless steel front brake line - Tygon fuel lines with stainless crimps - BAP fuel petcocks - Sealed front wheel bearings - Brand new poly bushings for swing arm. 0 Lateral play! You will never find a tighter swing arm on any Norton, seriously. - Progressive front springs - Koni adjustable rear shocks - Tommaselli twin pull throttle with nylon lined cables - K&N Air filter pod and oil filter - Boyer electronic ignition For inquiries please call 219-730-6250. I'm not interested in trades.. Too many toys as it is Video of the bike https://youtu.be/UMJG2rvYAcI

This 1963 Norton is a beauty. She is built from the ground up, Starting with a Manx featherbed frame. Everything was redone from the attachment hardware on the crank to the valve train. Interesting bits include the incorporation of a Commando primary to the motor; this eliminated a lot of leaks and added a triple-row primary chain over the standard single-row unit. Using this primary required use of a two into one exhaust. The motor was completely overhauled, including new hardware for the crank, Hepolite pistons, Superblend bearings and new spindles and rockers. The head is a Norton Combat unit that was shaved and ported. The bike runs about 9.75:1 compression. A magneto is used to supply spark, the entire electrical system is simple and includes a couple of kill switches, headlight and taillight. No messy battery. Custom pieces include the aluminum oil tank, which incorporates an anti-sump valve, motor mounts, oiling system (required due to the Commando primary), chain guard and too many others to list. The frontend is a Ceriani GP unit mated to a '75 Honda front hub and dual 12" discs. a Commando hub was used on the rear. The wheels are Excel shouldered aluminum stainless steel spokes polished hubs. The front fender is an original Paul Dunstall fiberglass unit while the tank and seat are replica Manx units. The 5 gallon polished Manx style gas tank is handmade. A modified (longer than stock) rear fender was used to allow for a license plate and tail light. I am selling my 1965 Norton Atlas. This is a very special bike and has had a lot of really great people's time, blood, sweat and tears put into it over the past few years. The bike was re-built from the ground up and every piece on it was hand picked with specific reasons and a specific purpose.1965 Norton Atlas with the famous "featherbed" frame. Matching frame and motor. Frame, tank, oil tank, battery box and all other black parts on the bike were freshly painted when rebuilt. Motor currently has about 4,000 miles on it since being rebuilt. The bike is currently running a Mikuni carb but could easily be switched to single or dual amal set up. As you probably already know as well, the Atlas runs with a Magneto and therefor can run without a battery or with a dead battery which is a great feature. In fact you can eliminate the battery completely if you choose. Front brake has been upgraded to a commando disc brake for increased stopping power and safety. New Avon tires were put on during rebuild and have the same mileage on them as the motor. A few other things the bike features are Dunstall clip-on bars (rare), a Tommaselli throttle, magura grips, magura clutch lever, Brembo master cylinder and brake lever, smiths gray face gauges, swept back pipes, rear sets, milled and upgraded gear box cover and kick start seal, super blend bearings all around, Tommaselli headlight ears, Aluminum front and read fender, new custom leather seat, new rear shocks, rebuilt front shocks, new tank rubbers, new gas cap, freshly lined tank, reverse cone mufflers, and fresh bulbs in tail light and head light, brand new battery and more. Almost everything on this bike is new or has been rebuilt. The only issues the bike currently has are a leaky primary which is pretty standard with these bikes as you probably know and also the clutch plates will need replacing soon. So I would leave it up to the buyer but if I was keeping the bike I would be putting a dry clutch and belt primary on it. I am only not doing it before selling in case the buyer prefers a wet system.Other than that this bike runs and rides perfectly. It rides like a dream actually and it will be very hard to see it go but unfortunately it's just what has to happen at the moment. I've ridden many modern bikes and the featherbed frame with the stock motor in it handles better than anything else I've ridden. If you chose to it could easily be made into a trailer queen with some extra polishing and adjustments but that is up to you. As it is, the bike is a rider and you can ride it as it was meant to be ridden. Please contact me if you are interested or for more details. I am very busy so serious inquiries only, please no questions just for the sake of curiosity. If you are serious about owning an Atlas then please contact me with any questions or to discuss further. Testing the waters for my 66 norton Altas, Bike I have always wanted but there is something else Im interested in, so its up for consideration. Partial trades possible. Let me know what you have. Bike was purchased from none other than Jerry Woods who was kind enough to write me and include the history: I hope that you enjoy the Atlas and I will be glad to help. The bike had an interesting history. It was purchased by a man that had a girlfriend in the Massachusetts Berkshires, he remained friends with this nice lady for a very long time. He bought two Atlases for them to ride. She is petite and starting an Atlas just didn't work out, so they sat in her living room as art for decades, she is an artist. One day they decided they were never going to ride them and sold them to me. The engine uses 40W heavy duty aircraft oil (Aeroshell 80) or a 40W diesel rated oil. The primary case 20W or automatic transmission fluid. The transmission 75 to 90W hypoid gear oil. The bike was completely gone thru by Jerry himself, amal carbs were upgraded to comando model as well as front brake. Other upgrades include clubman bars and Dunstall exhaust. I had the tank painted this past summer, other than the tank the bike paint is all original and very good shape for its age, showing patina in all the right places. Chrome is in excellent shape, no pitting or rust. As mentioned above this machine was stored inside and as such is a true survivor. The bike currently sits in my living room and was ridden over the summer very caringly. I also had a friend who is an very experienced English bike mechanic go thru the entire bike and make sure it is ready to go. I do not need to sell so I am not interested in lowballs or tirekickers, if you arent in the area to pick up dont bother contacting. This will be a cash only deal, so scammers can take a hike before we even start. This ad was posted with the eBay Classifieds mobile app.
