Starting with the motor rebuild by Daly Machine in Omaha Nebraska. 550 HP 388 Stroker 3 3/4 stroke 4.0 bore, Ross 9.75:1 pistons, Crower forged steel rods/ crank. Yates SVO cylinder heads ported/ flowed by Rod Sokolski (design engineer at Edelbrock) Ferrera stainless valves, Engle camshaft, roller rockers, double roller timing assembly, high volume oil pump, wind age tray, 10 quart Canton oil pan, Motorsport damper, aluminum flywheel, Mcleod performance clutch assembly, Edelbrock Victor series single plane intake manifold, MSD ignition/ rev limiter/ timing computer/ distributor/ coil, Stewart high flow Nascar water pump, Bob Blake pre paired 750 double pumper Holley carb, electric fuel pump, Motorsport single wire alternator, starter, Ansa GTS stainless headers/ exhaust and so much more. The transaxel was rebuilt by Woodhouse and has Pantera Performance hydraulic throw out bearing assembly and new drive axles. And the rear wheele housing carriers were upgraded to the tapered roller bearing assemblies. Additional items are 2 JAZ fuel cells, 17" Simmons wheels, 245/40/ZR17- 315/35/ZR17 Dunlop Sp Sport tires, JFZ 4 piston calipers, Coleman rotors, Pantera Performance Tilton Master cylinder/ brake booster, stainless braided brake and gas lines, Koni adjustable shocks, Pantera Performance sway bars/ bushings, Powder coated/ rebuilt upper and lower control arms, upper/ lower ball joints, rebuilt rack, rebuilt peddle assembly, Hall Pantera reinforce frame kit, European tail lights, hood vent kit, upgraded radiator/ fans/ tubes/ hoses/ clamps/ sensors, rebuilt door motors/ wiper/ headlight motors and so much more. There are just to many items to list but you get the idea, not much was left un touched! The interior had new carpet and re upholstered seats, stereo cassette, gauges, switches, Momo steering wheel, Simpson seat belts and more. All of the gauges work except for the tach. I was told that a wire at the MSD box was not hooked up. The head lights/ drivers- passengers windows go up and down as well as the wiper works. Turn signals, brake lights, horn, heater motor and electric fans all work. All of the ac equipment is under the dash but the new rotary pump was never installed. The motor starts right up no noises, smoke or leaks. The clutch and all forward/ reverse gears engage smoothly. I have had this Pantera up to speed and then some on the highway, the car runs out great! The Body is the original color redone in Blue, striped down to bare metal, epoxie primered and repainted/ wet sanded and polished. There is some small damage on the drivers rocker in the video as well as a couple of chips on the back of the car but for the most part the car is flawless! This car is clean with no rust or collision repair. Further inspection has shown there is no debris in the lower front/ rear control arm towers. I am selling this car for a client of mine and it is one of the most clean and sorted out Pantera's that has come through my shop. The car comes with the fiberglass in cert, new rear tires, ac pump, manuals, tool kit, new deck lid struts and some other miscellaneous stuff. You cannot build this car for what I am asking, not to mention the brain damage building one. I would suggest to have the car tuned and dynoed in your location for maximum performance. This 1973 L Pantera #THPNMT04987 had a repaint about 11 years ago. There is a small dent just behind the drivers door and on the back light panel. There is some small bubbling of paint on the roof the size of an eracer. But there is no rust popping through on the lower extremities of the body. Also some small chips/ scratches but nothing to talk about. The interior is all in tack but a little warn. Everything works wipers, head lights/ windows go up and down, All gauges work/ turn signals. The motor fires right up no noises, smoke or leaks. The transmission/ clutch engage smooth in all forward and reverse gears. The cooling system and fans work just fine. A year ago it had a tune up. Plugs, wires Mallory distributor, oil change, voltage regulator, starter solenoid, urethane sway bar bushings and new BFG Ta Radial tires 295-60-15 225-70-15. What the car does need is the air conditioning recharged, fan switch- fuse?, ac site glass replaced, rear brakes, emergency brake cable installed, wiper stud stripped (needs replacement) and yes of coarse a good cleaning and detail job. I have had this car out on the highway and she runs out fine. Good acceleration/ braking and steering as well. This is a project car that we pulled from a garage out west, from what I have been able to piece together and the stack of newspapers that were stored in the car, it looks like it was parked in a garage sometime in late 73 not to see the light of day again till a few months ago. The prior owner was going to have the car painted and the project stalled out shortly thereafter. Up for sale is our 1974 “L” model Pantera. It has 34,xxx original miles and is in excellent condition. Our Pantera has completed an extensive restoration which was chronicled with a complete photo history. This includes everything from suspension, steering, brakes, cooling & electrical. When I received it someone had done a “rattle can rebuild” on the upper and lower control arms and several other parts. The Koni shocks were hydro-locked, no headlights, wipers. The front valance was rotted and fixed with bondo. What sold me was the outstanding interior, body condition and the drive train. This was the perfect Pantera to invest the effort and money to bring her back to the condition she is in today. A show winner! First was the suspension. All the control arms were stripped, sand blasted and powder coated. New, original bushings pressed in. The Koni shocks and springs were stripped and powder coated. The shocks were rebuilt. All new hardware, 10.9 grade was used through the restoration reassembly. Next were the hub assemblies. They were stripped, powder coated. New bearings, seals and axle nuts installed, with new hardware as well. The brake calipers were powder coated, honed and loaded with all new hardware and pads. The rotors were cross drilled, chamfered and rebalanced. Included are the original magnesium wheels in great shape along with BFG T/A (90%) 205-50/15 front, 245-50/15 rear. The current wheels are 8” front with 10” rear. Fully restored and powder coated centers with new stainless hardware. They are from Gotti, J55a made in France. The steering received new tie rod ends, rack boots and the steering rack was upgraded with the bronze thrust bushings. The genuine Momo wood grain steering wheel was installed along with the proper Momo adapter. A 4 wheel alignment was done by the local hotrod shop. Before the Pantera was back on the ground it was time to fix the front valance. The rot was cut out and new replacement pieces were purchased, installed, primed and painted. Next was the cooling system. Pantera’s were known for a marginal cooling system. I used the 5 row aluminum radiator from Fluidyne along with new thermal fan switches. One set to 160 and the other set to 180 degrees. I installed two fan operation indicators below the dash temp gauge indicating when each fan is operating. Also, I hand made the pusher fan shroud to accommodate the two replacement fans. The original fans were rated at 390 CFM each. The replacements are 900 CFM each. This means the fans draw more current so I replaced the original fan relays with bosch units then removed the load from the ignition switch and connected power via a separate fan relay. The heater core supply line was modified using a three way valve, 1) open to heater core, 2) closed to heater core, 3) open to drain line for coolant draining. A remote tube and valve was also installed at the radiator allowing cooling system draining into a container and not into the newly replaced valance. All the radiator and heater hoses were replaces as well. Now time for any electrical issues. The headlight lift mechanism was repaired with a replacement limit switch. The lift motor was removed, disassembled, powder coated, lubed and reinstalled. The wiper push/pull rod was seized in its jacket. This overheated the motor opening the stator winding. A replacement motor was sourced from a 1972 MGB (same Lucas assembly), disassembled, powder coated, lubed and reinstated. The pull rod removed along with its case, thoroughly cleaned and lubed. The dash lights were notoriously dim. I relamped using LED lamps then modified the stock dimmer to have zero ohms when fully clockwise. All gauges are now bright. The pioneer CD player was installed and connected to the four speakers along with the newly replaced auto-antenna. Note the speakers are not installed in the doors. The doors have not been modified. Installed a new “Red Top” battery and ends with local disconnect. The original 351C is a strong runner. It has the Edelbrock intake manifold, Holley 650 (auto choke, vac. sec.) MSD distributor, MSD controller & tac drive, Mallory coil and Mind Train exhaust system. Runs great, starts instantly every time (hot or cold). It basically hauls ass, looks and sounds good doing it too. The transmission is in excellent condition with no issues, good synchros and no noises. The half shafts were disassembled, powder coated, new u-joints pressed, splines lubed and rebalanced. No LEAKS anywhere! The interior is in great shape and needed little. The headliner foam had failed so a replacement was sourced and installed, looks great. The electric windows are running slow, needs lubed? Included are all the restoration pictures from start to finish on flash drive. Also I have the original tool kit, custom car cover, original spare tire and inflation bottle along with the removable trunk also in excellent condition. This Pantera is an original California BLUE PLATE car and is true NUMBERS MATCHING. The car was built in July of 1973 and sold through Peyton Lincoln Mercury in Harbor City, California. It spent its entire life on the west coast until we purchased it in February of 2014. 1973 was a great year for the Pantera as the Monocoque frames were finally properly built and coated to ensure a rust proof life. It was such a solid car that one day, Elvis Presley actually shot his Pantera with a gun. 1973 was also the same year that a group of Mangusta and Pantera owners began holding regular meetings at Peyton Lincoln Mercury (where this car was purchased from)......what emerged was the Pantero Owners Club of America. The Marti Report gave us some good insight into the history of the car showing us that its port of entry was also California. Having only produced a total of 1,258 cars in 1973, this was 1 of ONLY 178 in red. This example has its original, numbers matching, Ford 351C block #05119. The ZF Gearbox is a -2 series #007100. We rebuilt the heads on the car as we knew it had been sitting for sometime, and we thoroughly serviced all the cooling lines and radiators. The car runs and drives magnificently. It produces strong power and the wide rear tires provide a lot of forward bite on acceleration. The transmission/Gearbox is nice, quiet and shifts crisp and smooth. The exhaust is loud and throaty, so the car produces substantial noise coming down the street. The car has power mirrors which fits the car very nice. The wheels are in excellent condition as are the Bridgestone Potenza tires (new condition) that wrap them. The car stops nice and straight and tracks straight down the road. The interior has been left mostly original. The previous owner did replace the original seats with a nice set of Recaros which are much more comfortable and look correct in the car. We decided to take things one step further and completely repainted the exterior at our body shop, as we noticed some burn marks from years of buffing on the car. The cars body was disassembled in its entirety. We removed the doors, hood, engine cover, all trim and moldings, bumpers, and glass. The car was taken down to its original primer and metals. We have pictures of the entire project which can be provided upon request. There was no rust or replaced metal anywhere on the car. The car is extremely straight and showed no signs of any prior accident repair, which is always pleasing. The car was hand blocked through the entire painting process. We sprayed the car back into its original red color using Standox (DuPont) primer, base, and clears. Our techs are all I-Car certified so we hold our work to the highest standards. The car was then color sanded, buffed and reassembled. The finished product, as you can see, is outstanding! The body lines are all even and the panel fit is close to perfection. This car was undercoated from the dealer so all inner panels, wells, and engine bay panels are in excellent condition, free of rust. We heated and removed the undercoating from the engine bay so that we could respray it black. Additionally, the bumpers were reconditioned and look fantastic. This is hands down the finest example of a '73 Pantera that we have seen. The paint work is show quality and the entire package is stunning. This gorgeous 1972 Pantera is the one to own if your idea of fun is actually driving it instead of rubbing it with a diaper, especially with an over-built stroker motor and a slick 2-tone paint combination. The Pantera is a curious, but not unprecedented mixture of Italian craftsmanship and American muscle, and when it was new, there just werent many cars of any kind that could keep up with it. Perhaps its because of that Ford DNA in its history that kept prices low, but today collectors are realizing that these cars deserve a spot in Italys illustrious supercar traditions. That also explains why this one received such a high-end restoration, which, although not totally stock, delivers on the promises made by the Panteras gorgeous bodywork. Black over silver accentuates the 1970s wedge shape, which has aged at least as well as the Ferrari 308 and still commands respect among aficionados. Fit and finish are probably better today than they were when the car was new and the two-tone paint seems to emphasize the American side of the Panteras genealogy, but theres no disputing that this car generates a ton of attention everywhere it goes. The interior is pure Italian, complete with the usual gorilla-style driving position and gated shift lever for the 5-speed manual gearbox. Leather buckets have attractive pleats and textured inserts and theyre surprisingly comfortable for long hauls. The instruments are housed in very cool twin pods with auxiliary gauges running down the center stack and the overall look is unique and very attractive. A leather-wrapped steering wheel feels suitably Italian in your hands and while the shifter takes some muscle and some familiarity, its quite rewarding to master. Youll probably never get tired of the sonorous V8 that inhales and roars just behind your head, but theres also a great-sounding AM/FM/CD stereo fitted horizontally, which is the only way it would work. Theres a bit of storage space up front in a nicely appointed trunk area, and a much larger trunk behind the mid-mounted engine, which is an impressive bit of packaging. The Pantera always used a 351 cubic inch Ford V8, but this one is powered by an all-new Ford stroker motor punched out to 420 cubic inches. Thats big block power in a small block package and the extra cubes make this car feel invincible on the street. It surely lives up to the promises made by the outrageous bodywork and with bulletproof Ford mechanicals, the Pantera is far from fussy and inexpensive to maintain, even for the do-it-yourself hobbyist. Its intimidating looking into that engine bay, but the engineering is solid and straightforward so if youve been under the hood of a Mustang, youll see a lot thats familiar here. The exhaust system is beautifully crafted and sounds downright nasty, and with a ZF 5-speed manual transmission its a joy to drive. A capable suspension, 4-wheel disc brakes, and stock 15-inch aluminum wheels give it confidence on and off the track and it wears recent 205/50/15 front and 245/60/15 rear Michelin radials. The Pantera has become an A-list celebrity and this one with a frame-off restoration and a brutal powerplant makes the argument that Ferraris may be garage art, but Panteras are meant to be driven.
