1902 COVERT SINGLE CYLINDER We are selling what we believe to be a 1902 COVERT single cylinder engine only. These were produced in Lockport, NY starting in early 1902 and may have been made as late as 1904, from our research. The motor turns over and has compression. We only have the parts and pieces that are in the photos posted. NO OTHER parts. This appears to be a very straight forward American version of the steadfast "DeDion French" design. We believe that it was rated at 3 HP and was chain drive. It is an air cooled gas motor. SOLD AS-IS. This would make for a great start for building a London to Brighton automobile. It appears the original engine mounts are still bolted to the engine. This is not something that has been ever left outside, hence it appears to be in remarkably well preserved condition. Might trade for interesting early tin lithograph, early wooden, or early porcelain automobile or motorcycle related advertising sign. NOTE: There appears to be an old repair to the cylinder head. Look carefully at the photos and you will see. We believe this to have been a period repair and that the motor has been used substantially since this repair. Offered for your vintage riding pleasure is a classic British single Ariel. The bike was sold new in Ft. Collins Colorado and spent its entire life in the state. Only two owners before we obtained it. The former owner owned it since 1976. He operated an independent motorcycle repair shop until his retirement. About 6 years ago he went thru the motor completely. For years this was his ride to and from work and used to explore the back roads in the mountains west of his city on Sundays. It is not stock as he modified it over the years to suit his needs. According to him the motor renovation included a new piston, valves and guides. A rod kit along with new pinion and sprocket shaft bearings were also installed at that time. It then received sparse usage after this work occurred. Alas, like a lot of us who have got a few years on us he found kick starting a large single wasn’t the fun it once was. It has new alloy fenders front and rear. The seat is a Bates style scrambler seat. The rubber is Dunlop K 70 universals. The frame isn’t modified as near as I can tell and it has a head light, no tail light. The bike has a clear Colorado title. It starts with a bit of effort and has tremendous compression. I can generally get it going in 5-6 kicks on a warm day. It could use some general cleaning up and probably would respond to some tuning to make it an easier starter. There are no other parts. What you see in the pictured is what is for sale. It is being sold as is and no warranty is offered as it is a 56 year old motorcycle. Please ask questions early to give me time to respond Please read and understand. This is our terms. This is a freshly build rat-rod bike that is founded on a Schwinn Collegiate 10 speed barn find (okay, garage sale find). It was built from scratch in 2016, with a new motor and a collection of salvaged vintage and new parts. The frame has been modified to create the illusion of speed, setting the head set back for maximum flop inducing rake, the seat post to match that angle, then reinforced from the seat stay extensions to manage the mind twisting torque from the single cylinder firecracker old/gas fueled motor. The patina on what remains of the Schwinn donor cycle was left in tact, as was as much paint as could remain around the extensive welding. All of the structural tube splices are reinforced internally slip joint inserts welded in place, to insure things stay together when this baby is tearing up the salt flats on its next record attempt, or ripping around the neighborhood making dogs bark, whichever you are into. It has been ridden, and it does start by peddling it hard, then releasing the clutch. It definitely attracts attention and fires up conversations, some about medical insurance, some about old bikes rusting in sheds, and some about projects and dreams. Women just swoon all over it and want to take it for a ride. This is the perfect car show companion, pit bike or man cave display piece for anyone who loves the rougher and cruder things in life. It is now dry for indoor display in an office, so can be put into service any way you wish. I can guarantee that this is a one-off, never copied machine of unique and distinctive character. The front fork is a fusion of two vintage forks, and does actually function to soak up bumps. The tires are brand new as well, and you can get it to do burn outs and make thin black lines on pavement. I've had my fun building it and am ready to start another, so its time to find it a new home. Make me an offer and get to the motoring! You might be asking, "What did I find?" You my friend have found a Unicorn! With over 14 years of Hummer H1, H2, H3 experience, including owning all 3 of the Hummer brand at some point... I can tell you this is the one! 4 North Texas Owners, Clean CarFax: Bought out of Lynch Hummer in Missouri, which was one of Sewell Hummer of Dallas's biggest competitors nationwide. Why did the first owner go to Missouri to buy instead of my old store? Because the 4 Door Hard Top was the lowest production Hummer H1. The Wagon and Open-Top were more mass produced. Lynch Hummer would not dealer-trade this H1 to us brand new in 2001. Mechanically, it's in great shape! This H1 needed very little in the grand scheme of things H1 servicing/reconditioning related. We did Glow Plugs, Glow Plug Control Module, Blower Motor, Vehicle Wheel Speed Sensors, and had a Rockford Fosgate amplifier installed, cost us a couple grand as a dealer to do so. Max retail at a dealership would be $5,000 plus for the work we just had completed. Next step is to have it Kevlar coated/fully rhino lined. The truck still looks great now as it sits, but when you have a cherry like this... we want to offer the best possible vehicle. This Hard-Top H1 was Yellow brand new. One of the previous owners had it painted Matte Black. It looks great, except for you can still see a few yellow spots that were not covered. My Kevlar/Rhinoline connection does exceptional work and we're going to matte-black Kevlar coat the H1. Should take about 1 week. If you've never owned one, this one is rare in the fact that all the window and power lock buttons work, radio works, a/c is very cold, heater works, wipers work, headlights work, horn works, interior trim pieces aren't breaking off or missing, AND it isn't a rusty/muddy POS that was rode hard and put up wet. In Summary: 1. Very rare and highly desirable edition 2. Very mechanically sound, and we've spent the money to make it great. 3.
