You’ve seen Reliants on Top Gear, Mr. Bean and Fools and Horses on the BBC but they are nearly impossible to find in the US. Yes, you may have seen this Reliant Robin at Car Week in Monterey. We had a blast meeting so many nice people. We had this car in the paddock at the Monterey Historic races serving as a shuttle along with our Reliant Regal to the delight of tons of racers and race fans. We attended the Little Car Show in Pacific Grove, a sold out affair in its sixth year, and WON! “Most Smiles per Mile” along with a member award. We’re told this is their version of Best in Show. Wow, what an honor. We also attended the Concours d’LeMons. We had a great time and lots of people got to meet, sit in and get photos with the Reliants. It’s the opposite of a real concours where the truly awful are the winners. Thankfully we were not called to the podium. RarityThis is a very early 1975 model Robin SuperVan. This is not a converted Royal Mail vehicle. It is Right Hand Drive. Clear TitleThis Robin has a clear and clean California title and registration. The current California motorcycle license plate is included. Low MileageLess than 75,000 miles accumulated in the last 40 years. Dale reviewed this Reliant Robin in detail. Here are his impressions of the car and the market: Today we are checking out a very cool 1975 Reliant Robin SuperVan. This rare car has an enthusiastic worldwide following due in part to all of the attention on the BBC shows like Top Gear and Mr. Bean. Were not sure how many of these panel van models were produced but reportedly very few outside of the Royal Mail fleet. Equipped with the desireable folding rear seat, this van can go from light deliveries to comfortably carrying 4.5 people. Where else can 4 1/2 people, ride a motorcycle, in the rain, without a helmet, at 70 MPH, while getting 70 MPG, and not get wet? Most collector cars are impractical to utilize as daily drivers, however, the Reliant remains in service throughout England and India. Many of these cars have over 200,000 thousand miles on them, as their owners found them reliable, economical, sporty, unique, practical and most of all, fun to drive. This example shows very, very low mileage on the odometer, at just 74600 miles. A complete restoration was begun in 2014 and completed this year. This car features the factory Red paint. The fiberglass body was completely stripped, repaired and resprayed. After a month of curing, the car was color sanded and polished to a high lustre. She rides on factory steel wheels, hub caps and new tyres. The interior is in superb shape. Fresh seating and carpeting and wall covering abound. A bluetooth radio is a nice touch for handsfree phone calls. RIGHT HAND DRIVE! Factory floor shifter. Original gauges in place. Trim is excellent. Fresh tune and oil change by local British shop. This car runs, drives and stops exactly like it is supposed to do. Everything works the way it was intended by the manufacturer. The Build book is complete with many pictures along the way, a photo disc, period adverts, receipts, the owner’s manual and lots of history. If you follow the collector car market, you know micro cars are on the rise. They are easy to own, store, insure and resell. Here are his impressions of the car and the market: Today we are checking out a very cool 1975 Reliant Robin SuperVan. This rare car has an enthusiastic worldwide following due in part to all of the attention on the BBC shows like Top Gear and Mr. Bean. Were not sure how many of these panel van models were produced but reportedly very few outside of the Royal Mail fleet. Equipped with the desirable folding rear seat, this van can go from light deliveries to comfortably carrying 5 people. Where else can 5 people, ride a motorcycle, in the rain, without a helmet, at 70 MPH, while getting 70 MPG, and not get wet? Most collector cars are impractical to utilize as daily drivers, however, the Reliant remains in service throughout England and India. Many of these cars have over 200,000 thousand miles on them, as their owners found them reliable, economical, sporty, unique, practical and most of all, fun to drive. This example shows very, very low mileage on the odometer, at just 74515 miles. A complete restoration was begun in 2014 and completed this year. This car features the factory Red paint. The fiberglass body was completely stripped, repaired and resprayed. After a month of curing, the car was color sanded and polished to a high lustre. She rides on factory steel wheels, hub caps and new tires. The interior is in superb shape. Fresh seating and carpeting and wall covering abound. A bluetooth radio is a nice touch for handsfree phone calls. RIGHT HAND DRIVE! Factory floor shifter. Original gauges in place. Trim is excellent. Fresh tune and oil change by local British shop. This car runs, drives and stops exactly like it is supposed to do. Everything works the way it was intended by the manufacturer. The Build book is complete with many pictures along the way, a photo disc, period adverts, receipts, the owner’s manual and lots of history. If you follow the collector car market, you know micro cars are on the rise. They are easy to own, store, insure and resell. This 1957 Morris Minor Convertible has been around the Rhinebeck, NY area for 25+++ years. It was restored and serviced locally. It wound up being owned by a local/resident/celebrity and we bought it in May of '02 as he moved to another area. We have driven it summers and to shows and serviced it as needed. Recent upgrades include exhaust system, seat webbing, tires, light switch, and any little thing which keeps it fun to own and drive. We do not know the order of improvements or timeframe as such but here is a list of what was done before we purchased it: Body and repaint--finished in gloss black-paint has held up well-still very shiny. Some paint bubbles in lower areas but seems to be in the paint only-no rust through. Would take very little to clean up or let it go and enjoy as it. Not getting any worse. Engine-replaced with a Nissan A12--1237cc and 4sp-all syncro transmission. Looks just like the original but much more smooth and powerful, downshifts effortlessly, and has enough power to run on the highway with a feeling of confidence. The installation was very clean--not cobbed in any way, and has required no additional attention. If you installed an aluminium valve cover, only a very few lookers would figure it out. Austin Healy sprite front disc brakes --new non-squeal pads added recently. Seats were recovered at some point--holding up nicely. Top is still presentable--some pulled stitching and such. A good top guy could shape it up in an hour. We always drive with it down and have NEVER been caught in the rain. It would probably last 25 more years the way we deal with it. We will accept offers from foreign buyer BUT---ALL FOREIGN BUYERS MUST HAVE A LOCAL AGENT TO FACILLITATE PAYMENT AND SHIPPING. I will deliver the car for free up to a hundred miles. Whether that is to your door or to a shipping agent makes no difference to me. Once the car is paid for and all funds have cleared, pick up can be arranged by buyer and I will assist in loading any way I can. We want this to be a good experience for the new owner and it starts here. That being said, the shipper has to be cooperative and PROFESSIONAL as well. They are surely out there-choose well. Do not consider this vehicle unless you are willing to talk to people everywhere you go about their Morris Minor experiences. At a show, everyone has a tale and a heartwarming recollection. It is always of supreme interest to folks from the UK, France and Germany. They are always surprised to see it and impressed with its overall condition. It has received several "people's choice" firsts and though we are not representing it as "show ready to win" if FUN is your thing, this car has the factor without a huge investment. That's collector car buying advice straight from the collector car bible, HEMMING'S MOTOR NEWS. Of all of the replica manufactured Fiber Fab roadsters and speedsters, the MG TD is undoubtedly the most true & authentic to the actual MG's, as its simplistic and straightforward design specifications and wonderful pre-war curves lends itself to a very authentic replication of a usually expensive, exotic British sports car. An authentic MG TD such as the model that I am offering here on eBay could easily costs upwards $25K+, especially one as nice as this one. And you certainly don't have to worry about the issue of costly maintenance with this fabulous roadster as the drive train is a trusty 1967 Volkswagen, parts are available at every AUTOZONE across the country, and most mechanics find the durable 1500 cc air cooled motors very easy to work on and maintain. The condition of this 48 year old vehicle is excellent for its age and superbly maintained (but do expect very minor oxidation on some cosmetic hardware like the headlight mount brackets). The 1500 cc engine performs superbly and reliably enough to be a daily driver, and the brakes have been recently serviced with absolutely no issues with the operation of the vehicle. The manually retractable convertible top is in excellent condition as are the support bars, (as are the very authentic side wind deflectors) with very little wear and fading and aesthetically compliments the car when optioned, in fact, the three wooden slats have never been inserted onto the running boards. The interior of the vehicle is also in excellent condition for its age with very little wear and no tears to the vinyl seats, but the dated, hippie inspired, pea green carpet is ugly by every measure, if I must be objective! Not to worry though, a visit to your local home depot to the carpet department and you can score about 3 square yards of a dark colored, tight pile office carpeting for around $26, and in a few hours labor removing the seats (4 screws and bolts for each seat) you can replace the "shag" carpet and add $1000 value to the MG TD in an afternoon, not to mention elevating the elegance and cool factor of this sexy roadster a notch or two. The very heavy duty fiberglass (slightly thicker than an 80's Chevy Corvette by .2 mil) body still sports a very glossy paint job as can be seen in the brown fenders (you will have to hand rub the cream painted body yourself) as it is quite apparent this roadster spent much of its life indoors. Most older fiberglass cars have issues with crackling with the paint or gelcoat, but not this one, spend a few hours hand rubbing (massaging) and waxing this baby and everyone will believe you spent $30K for your vintage roadster. Also, the 48 year old drive train lends favorably to its appeal as a authentic, vintage collector car and your DMV will issue you an ANTIQUE or COLLECTOR license plate because it is more than 30 years old. This fabulous replica MG is located in the Sacramento, California area and I can arrange for shipping anywhere in the country to your door and the costs are not excessive. Because gas prices have dipped so low, a roadster like this one can be shipped from the west coast to the east coast for less than $1200, considerably less if you are in the interior of the United States and if you choose to have the vehicle shipped, you don't pay until it is off loaded in your drive way. Again, this is an incredibly exciting entry level roadster at a price where it can be enjoyed for a few seasons and sold at a profit. So invest today. Like Al Pacino said in "Scarface", "You can't lose money on this deal, NO WAY". There might be a lot of levity expressed in this listing but objectively, this car is going to make someone very happy and there will ABSOLUTELY be no loss in resale, and that's how conscientious and prudent collectors spend money on cars, and it certainly doesn't matter if you spend $1,000 or $1 million, a good "car buy" won't cost you money! The car is titled as a 1958 Lotus and has an antique title in Pennsylvania. It has been owned by current owner approximately 15 years. About the Westfield ElevenLotus Eleven sports racers were built in England from 1956 to 1958 to compete in the 1100cc racing class. About 250 of the cars were made. The Elevens won both the 1100cc class and the coveted "index of performance" at the 1957 LeMans 24 hour race. Elevens went on to become the most successful of all the Lotus sports racers. Westfield Cars, Ltd. of England produced a series of reproduction Elevens based on the 1957 LeMans racer. About 150 Westfield Elevens were produced from 1982 - 1988. Westfield Elevens were available as either a finished car or kit car. Initially called the Westfield Sports, the factory-finished cars were usually fitted with an uprated 1,275 cc BMC A-Series engine. The majority of Westfield XIs were sold as self-build kits without engines and designed to accept the 1275cc A-series engine from a donor MG Midget or Austin-Healey Sprite. The kit is designed to use other components from a donor Sprite or Midget such as the rear axle (modified by Westfield), gearbox, driveshaft, front upright/brake assembly, radiator, wheels/tires, steering rack, wiring, and gauges. The chassis is hand-made from tubular steel and stressed aluminum. The fiberglass body is a reproduction of the Lotus 11 LeMans car with an optional aerodynamic head fairing. Of all of the replica manufactured Fiber Fab roadsters and speedsters, the MG TD is undoubtedly the most true & authentic to the actual MG's, as its simplistic and straightforward design specifications and wonderful pre-war curves lends itself to a very authentic replication of a usually expensive, exotic British sports car. An authentic MG TD such as the model that I am offering here on eBay could easily costs upwards $25K+, especially one as nice as this one. And you certainly don't have to worry about the issue of costly maintenance with this fabulous roadster as the drive train is a trusty 1967 Volkswagen, parts are available at every AUTOZONE across the country, and most mechanics find the durable 1500 cc air cooled motors very easy to work on and maintain. The condition of this 48 year old vehicle is excellent for its age and superbly maintained (but do expect very minor oxidation on some cosmetic hardware like the headlight mount brackets). The 1500 cc engine performs superbly and reliably enough to be a daily driver, and the brakes have been recently serviced with absolutely no issues with the operation of the vehicle. The manually retractable convertible top is in excellent condition as are the support bars, (as are the very authentic side wind deflectors) with very little wear and fading and aesthetically compliments the car when optioned, in fact, the three wooden slats have never been inserted onto the running boards. The interior of the vehicle is also in excellent condition for its age with very little wear and no tears to the vinyl seats, but the dated, hippie inspired, pea green carpet is ugly by every measure, if I must be objective! Not to worry though, a visit to your local home depot to the carpet department and you can score about 3 square yards of a dark colored, tight pile office carpeting for around $26, and in a few hours labor removing the seats (4 screws and bolts for each seat) you can replace the "shag" carpet and add $1000 value to the MG TD in an afternoon, not to mention elevating the elegance and cool factor of this sexy roadster a notch or two. The very heavy duty fiberglass (slightly thicker than an 80's Chevy Corvette by .2 mil) body still sports a very glossy paint job as can be seen in the brown fenders (you will have to hand rub the cream painted body yourself) as it is quite apparent this roadster spent much of its life indoors. Most older fiberglass cars have issues with crackling with the paint or gelcoat, but not this one, spend a few hours hand rubbing (massaging) and waxing this baby and everyone will believe you spent $30K for your vintage roadster. Also, the 48 year old drive train lends favorably to its appeal as a authentic, vintage collector car and your DMV will issue you an ANTIQUE or COLLECTOR license plate because it is more than 30 years old. This fabulous replica MG is located in the Sacramento, California area and I can arrange for shipping anywhere in the country to your door and the costs are not excessive. Because gas prices have dipped so low, a roadster like this one can be shipped from the west coast to the east coast for less than $1200, considerably less if you are in the interior of the United States and if you choose to have the vehicle shipped, you don't pay until it is off loaded in your drive way. Again, this is an incredibly exciting entry level roadster at a price where it can be enjoyed for a few seasons and sold at a profit. So invest today.
