We have the answer, a Dropseat Bobber with all the power and the looks. The 2016 RODS & RIDES MOTORCYCLE COMPANY 300mm machine not only looks the part but definitely gets the job done. The standard engine is a 100" Midwest Performance El Bruto engine with options for anything up to 140" pushing 165 horse power. The engine is mated to a 2" or a 3.35" open belt drive primary with turns the 6 Speed cable actuated or hydraulic actuated transmission. As far as wheels, the standard machine has a 21" front and a 300mm rear. The option to use a 23" or even a 26" as shown in the picture is available. Any color can be chosen and there are endless options available through out the machine. This particular machine pictured was built within the 6-8 week time period and has a MSRP of $26,995.00 plus shipping. We do not collect any taxes and nor do we charge any doc or prep fees. If you have any trouble viewing the slideshow above, please be sure to click on the thumbnail image below to view the web-album with all 33 super-sized photos of this bike: 1938 BMW replica sidecar motorcycle CJ-750 I am the second owner of this nearly exact clone of a 1938 BMW R-71 motorcycle with side-car, just like the German Military used during World War II. A little known fact is that Harley Davidson ALSO copied this BMW design and built a hand full (nearly identical to this bike, except with a springer front fork setup) for the US Military called the Harley XA. None were sold as civilian motorcycles, although they eventually wound up in civilian hands, & are highly sought-after collector’s items. They had this same horizontally-opposed engine configuration and were NOT a transversely mounted V-twin like the rest of Harley’s motorcycles. The U.S. Military even commissioned Delco Corporation (GM?) to build one in a Servi-Car Trike configuration. Indian also copied the BMW design, and built a model called the 841, all with this same style frame & shaft-drive design (a revolutionary idea in the '30s and '40s)! I know it's unbelievable, but you can do a Google Image search to see pictures of all of the above mentioned configurations. Later, the Russian companies Ural & Dnepr acquired the molds from Germany after the two countries signed a non-aggression pact. These motorcycles continued to be built using the original BMW designs until 1950 when Russia put all the molds & dies onto a train, and sent them to the People's Republic of China allegedly as a gift of Communist solidarity. Production resumed under the name CJ-750 which is the brand of this particular motorcycle for sale (CJ stands for the Chang Jiang Aircraft Company, & 750 designates the engine’s displacement). They continued to be built the same way up until 2010, so parts are still quite readily & inexpensively available on eBay & various sites on the internet, which is one of the best things about owning one of these bikes! Some sources say that this is likely the most common motorcycle on the face of the planet… it’s just that extremely few of them ever made it onto U.S. soil because it was such an antiquated design by the time the CJ-750 was being produced by the millions, and Americans wanted the latest styling & modern performance so they were never imported here as new machines. I've learned SO much from the 3 of these bikes I've now owned (cite history-lesson above), and never had a problem finding anything I needed for them. This motorcycle is all original, & it’s a complete bike. As I mentioned above, the engine is a 750cc horizontally-opposed Flathead 2-cylinder 4-stroke with the original points & condenser distributor upgraded to electronic ignition. It has a 4 speed transmission with reverse! Heel-Toe foot-shift, or hand-lever “suicide shifter” on the side of the transmission (I have a linkage kit which attaches to the right side of the tank included with the bike to make it hand-shift if you like the nostalgia of that)! It has a High-speed rear end (goes 60mph). It’s pretty heavy (about 800 pounds with the sidecar plus then you add the weight of 1, 2 or 3 people on top of that), so it’s not a speed-demon (I have a rear-seat which is spring-loaded like the front one, and mounts to the rear fender). Some of the newer models of the CJ-750 have engines with overhead-valve style cylinder heads which can be interchanged, but aren’t as authentic to the original design, and are only slightly more powerful than the old flattie design. They also make the bike a lot wider, and the right jug must be notched if you want to run a sidecar with it. I really prefer the look of this flat-head design. This one features both kick start AND electric start, as well as a modern 12 volt charging system (modern upgrades for reliability). It has modern Mikuni style carbs. Both cylinder’s connecting rods are hinged on the same crankshaft journal (much like a Harley V-Twin), so the engine has a great sound to it. There’s Dual Exhaust, with way-cool fish-tail mufflers. It has very unique clutch & brake levers hinged from the outside. I have it legally titled, licensed & insured in my name as a 2003 Reconstructed Vehicle, and it was inspected by the Iowa D.O.T. to ensure it has front & rear brakes, working high & low beam headlight, turn signals & brake light, etc to be street-legal. The original VIN stamp matches the VIN number on the title. The sidecar headlight & taillight come on when the other lights are on as well, which is a neat touch! The bike fires right up on the first kick (see video above), runs very well and has no known mechanical issues. The carbs are PZ28s, recently cleaned and balanced. This is incredibly RARE, but there are actually NO leaks from the engine, transmission, or rear-end on this bike! All electrical accessories (lights, horn, starter) work properly. Odometer is in Kilometers, BUT you can buy decal-overlays which show both MPH and KPH online for cheap (I did this on the gauge of my last one of these bikes). This machine tracks straight down the road with the sidecar attached, which is easily removed and the bike can be run solo. In my opinion, the dirtier it gets, the better it looks (patina). I kept some pictures from the previous owner in Beverley Hills, California where this bike never saw anything but cobblestone streets and pavement, but mostly I like cruising it on winding, scenic, dirt river-roads (where you would normally never take a 2-wheeled bike). It's got a giant training-wheel off to the side making it incredibly stable. It cleans up beautifully, but just looks more authentic dusty... like it just came out of 75 year barn-storage. I hope you agree... otherwise, I apologize, and can have it polished up before it leaves. Upgrades A number of mechanical and electrical improvements for performance and reliability were made: · The original pistons and rings were replaced with aftermarket high performance 4-ring pistons which give a noticeable boost in power. · Installed a deep sump oil pan and oil pickup to help keep the engine cool. There is a temp gauge on the oil dipstick as it is important to monitor temp on these air-cooled bikes in hot weather. · Replaced the stock fuel lines with clear fuel lines and dual in-line filters. · Added brass fittings to the carbs to assist in synchronizing with a manometer. · Replaced the stock air cleaner with a smaller BMW-style filter unit, resulting in a less cluttered appearance and better engine breathing. · Upgraded the electrical system with solid-state electrics including a modern voltage regulator, rectifier board and starter solenoid. These parts are enclosed in a locked toolkit mounted to the side of the bike, resulting in far better reliability and a more vintage appearance than standard. I have a matching primered toolkit for the opposite side of the bike for symmetry, which could be painted black to match, and installed as well. Most noticeable when riding with the sidecar removed. · Installed a smaller high-power Yuasa battery in a custom battery box in the stock location, saving several pounds of weight. · Replaced the center stand with a side kick stand, making it easier to park the bike when running “solo” without the sidecar. · A seat-belt was installed in the sidecar. While I doubt it improves the safety of an adult passenger, it might help them feel secure... perhaps keep a child or a dog from exiting the ride during motion. My dog rides in the sidecar, and I even have a pair of goggles for her (they say "Doggles" on them). I can provide pictures upon request! I've taken it to shows, and people absolutely go nuts over it. It is currently titled, registered, and insured, so test rides are welcome. I'm driving it daily, so a few more Kilometers may rack up on the odometer by the end of the auction. The weather is nice, but I had fun riding it in the snow as well at the end of winter. The model, featuring a rigid look with hidden rear suspension, has been a best-seller for The Motor Company since its introduction in 1984. As the styling team looked at a profile of all Softails since then, they realized it hadn't evolved much over the years. So they approached it with the aplomb of servicemen returning from the second World War, bobbing fenders, cleaning up wiring and removing bits that weren't essential. To get the look they wanted, Willie G. enlisted the services of a group of in-house up-and-comers with an affinity for hot rods and garage builds. The result is the 2011 Harley Blackline. Lead designer on the Blackline project, Casey Ketterhagen, broke down the new features of the Dark Custom Softail to us at the official launch party in New York City. He started by pointing out that Harley tidied up the rear section by chopping down the back fender as much as legally possible, tucking it in tight to the spoked-down 16-inch rear wheel and hiding the wiring for the directionals. The new Dunlop on the rear Keeping in the bikes less-is-more theme it has a gloss black powdercoat on the rocker box covers crankcase outer primary cover and transmission side cover. Harley toned down the graphics and badging on the Blackline Softail and slapped on a new round air cleaner. reportedly expands width-wise instead of up, a key component to them being able to snug up the rear fender. The bobbed rear fender has stop/tail/turn signals in black housings to go along with a new composite license plate holder and a light module mount on the lower edge of the fender. Engineers also pulled the seat of the Blackline back tight and slimmed it down, then dropped its height to 24 inches -- an unheard of low for a factory Harley. H-D then cleaned up the tank by eliminating the faux gas cap, trimming down the real one and adding a new, narrow black console. The Blackline gets its name from the asymmetric five-gallon fuel tank that's clean on the left side, has a gas cap on the right with a die-cast piece of "Blackline" trim bisecting the two covering up the fuel pump hardware. The revamped tank allowed H-D to run new Split Drag Bars that are set narrow, are internally wired and mount straight to the top triple instead of a riser. They topped it off by going tall and thin up front with its 21-inch spoked-down front tire measuring a svelte 90mm in width. At six-feet tall, I was worried the low seat height would equate to cramped ergos. On the contrary, it's a true arms punched out, feet stretched forward riding position. Throw in the bars that are set in tight and you've got a very aggressive riding position. Add the saddle's narrowness to the ultra-low seat height and you've got a motorcycle that makes it easy to get both feet on the ground at a stop while the forward-mounted foot controls allow riders to stretch out in motion. The bike's so low that a passenger is able to set their feet flush on the ground at a stoplight from the pillion. Now that's low. With the close-set bars, tall front hoop and 30-degrees of rake, I wondered how the action on the front end would be. Though the bars are ultra-narrow, the revisions to the tank allow for plenty of clearance and no side-to-side restrictions to the bars. In fact, the feeling is light and it's easy to wheel the big 21-inch front tire around. There's not a lot of unsprung weight but the 41mm fork keeps the Dunlop firmly planted. Teamed with the low center of gravity, the bike tosses side-to-side easily for a cruiser. Turn-in doesn't require much effort and the major constraint is the limited lean angle because you'll be grinding down the feelers on the foot pegs despite the bike's capacity to take on more lean. The Blackline has a new black console and a trimmed-down gas cap. Less weight than the standard Softail and the same 1584cc Twin Cam 96B engine means the Blackline hooks up and goes for a Softy.Introducing the newest addition to Harley-Davidsons Dark Custom line the 2011 Blackline. The Blackline feels much lighter than other Softails, and at a claimed 638.5 pounds weighs 56 pounds less than the Softail Deluxe. Because it weighs less but is still powered by the same 1584cc Twin Cam 96B engine, the Blackline hooks up and goes for a Softy. It's tuned to dish out the meat of its claimed 89 lb-ft of torque just above 2000 rpm. Rev it up, drop the clutch and it has no problems getting the back tire to bark. The pushrod V-Twin utilizes lightweight pistons churning away in a long 4.38-inch stroke. Peak power comes on in the mid-3000 rpm range, but it is geared low so that riders get the gratification of instant torque as soon as the throttle is twisted. Drag bars were a good choice for the Blackline because once you're in the saddle, be ready to ride it like a hot rod. It's all Harley, with a rigid-mounted, internally counter-balanced engine, so there are a few vibrations in the bars and seat, but at 70 mph in sixth gear the mirrors were clear. My wife did mention that she felt a lot of vibes from the small patch of leather they call a pillion. The engine has no problem compensating for the additional weight of a passenger, but one look at the seat is all it takes to realize the Blackline is more suited toward the solo rider. Riding two-up taxes the rear suspension, units which we were already blowing through the damping on occasionally when riding solo. The FX fork on the front, however, did an admirable job of both keeping the front tire planted and soaking up the road imperfections so riders don't have to absorb it in their shoulders and arms. Stopping on the Blackline has its good and bad points. The front brakes don't provide much bite and faded a bit in hard braking situations, but the Blackline we tested had the optional ABS on the rear which helped compensate for their shortcomings. The four-piston caliper on the rear has more outright feel to it and better stopping power. It takes a pretty good push on the foot pedal to engage the ABS. Riders will experience a hard pulse in the ball of their foot from the ABS pumping the brakes which is more noticeable at slower speeds. Harley chose the less-is-more method for styling cues on the Blackline. Its tank graphic is smaller and more subtle and badging is kept to a minimal. Its Twin Cam 96B has stylish machined heads and a gloss black powdercoat on its rocker box covers, crankcase, outer primary cover and transmission side cover. This blacked-out background helps the new, round air cleaner stand out even more and chrome oil lines add class to the overall fit and finish. There is a noticeable gap between the nose of seat and the fuel tank that exposes the top of the frame, but we never rode so close to the tank for it to be a comfort issue. Instrumentation on the Blackline is also minimal with a small, round analog speedo with a digital odometer mounted between the bars. A green "low fuel" light comes on with about a gallon left in the tank and a countdown to empty starts. The odometer readout will switch to "R 30" or however many miles are left till empty. We logged 453 miles on the Blackline, a combination of daily commutes, two-up runs and rides through curvy mountain roads and finished our testing with an average of 36.82 mpg. Overall we came away impressed with the way you can toss the Blackline around and how it hooks up off the line. With the arms punched out riding position, you can experience a little arm fatigue on long rides, though. The stripped down look, subtle new graphics and round air cleaner give it a distinct Softail signature. Stronger front brakes and more lean angle would make the bike even better, but nonetheless the Blackline provides a spirited ride.

"T h e B i g R e d D e v i l" RODS & RIDES MOTORCYCLE COMPANY This fabulous machine was just completed July 2015 by the renowned RODS & RIDES MOTORCYCLE COMPANY. The company is known for award winning top of the line motorcycles though out the world. As a U.S. Manufacture, RODS & RIDES has won at every show ever entered and has been showcased in the largest motorcycle magazines around the globe, not to mention televised on several networks through out the years. Rods & Rides is not a customizer of other motorcycles but instead a ground up inventor and designer. This year, the bike being offered known as “The Big Red Devil” was built for one reason, to show the bagger enthusiast at Sturgis that to win a show or steel the peoples eyes, it can be completed with steel not fiberglass, ingenuity not duplication, and by going outside the norm of the bagger world known for there long and low unrideable machines built for looks only. This machine was built like no other bagger ever and is a true one off machine in every aspect. Also not to forget, the machine rides as good as it looks and will power past anything on the road. The beginning of the project began at Shapiro Metals, St. Louis MO. This is where all the materials where purchased to start the project. As with most custom baggers, they start with a factory touring Harley either new or even wrecked, not this one though. The machine began with straight mild steel stock and was bent and TIG welded piece by piece until the chassis was formed to support the rest of the project. The front end was purchased new and was build to simulate the early 40’s Harley Style. The sheet metal tank and front fender has been hand formed for this particular machine by FATKATZ. The tank was something built for this project and not something that can or will be duplicated in the future, a true one off masterpiece. The rear section was a combination of metal that RODS & RIDES created in house from the taillight housings to the side covers in front of the bags; no small detail was left untouched. The chassis was a large item to start because every machine RODS & RIDES builds is not rubber mounted nor do they need to hold an intercooled Turbo Evolution engine of this magnitude. The chassis took several months to complete but once completed, the rest went together very smooth. The machine was fitted with rear air ride with its own VIAR pump to lift and lower the machine. It also received several lighting enhancements from the golden ages of the great ones. The rear lights where donors from a 1959 Cadillac and the front headlight from a 1932 Ford Roadster. The machine does not have any ugly wiring or switches; everything is neatly tucked away and looks as though it may not even run. The engine of course is a major focal point to this bike. It all started out at Midwest / Ultima Products, St. Louis, MO. The competition Evolution style engine has been upgraded with several in house tricks. It also was fitted with a Precision T3 Turbo, which includes an intercooler and scavenge pump. The Mikuni flat side blow proof carburetor, fuel pump, vacuum regulator, and the rest of the tuning equipment was individually built by C&S Specialties Fuel Systems St. Charles MO. The engine produces over 300HP with the less than 12lbs of boost. Mating the engine and fully polished Delkron 6 speed transmission is a 2” custom primary also built by Midwest. The stainless exhaust and aluminum intake where all built in house specifically for this build and then sent to “Arkansas Jim” for a full polish job. He also took care of all the chrome plating required for all the mounts and hardware. The wheels are chrome plated standard spoke style, massive 26” front and 200mm rear. To stop the rolling bullet, Performance Machine was chosen for the front and GMA for the rear. The bike is also chain driven in lieu of a week belt because of the massive amount of power this cruiser makes. Don’t be fooled by the power though…. The bike still runs as smooth and comfortable as any other stock touring bagger. After the machine was completed with its Candy Apple Red House Of Kolor paint job, it was fully assembled by the founder of Rods & Rides, T.D. Ward. The machine was then sent off to Sturgis SD for the 75th Anniversary Rally & Races. At the event, the machine was entered into several Shows; Easy Riders, Rats Hole, and the famous “Sturgis Baddest Bagger”. The Baddest Bagger show took place and this awesome machine was picked by Michael & Angie Ballard, owners of the world famous Full Throttle Saloon “FTS” as the Baddest Bagger Sturgis 2015. This was truly a once in a lifetime experience to be awarded at every show and at the largest gathering ever in Sturgis.
