Rare 1998 Ducati 916 SPS Homologation SpecialHomologated for racing, only 50 were officially imported into the US. This one is California registered. Despite the 916 designation, the bike features a factory tuned 996cc motor with dual injectors, Titanium rods, oversized valves and crank, strengthened engine cases and frame. It includes an Ohlins rear shock and steering damper, carbon airbox and front fender. The factory provided two sets of pipes including the off-road Termignoni carbon exhausts and matching ECU currently installed. For more details on this special model google ducati 916 sps and check out the odd-bike write-up.This bike has been modified to include Ohlins forks with billet lower triple clamp and Ohlin factory SBK valving. Front brakes are Brembo Narrow Track GP calipers and rotors with Brembo radial master cylinders. The oil cooler was replaced with an oversized Ducati Corsa unit. It also includes carbon air intakes, vented clutch cover and lightened flywheel. Cosmetically the bike is in good condition with flaws typical of a bike of this age. There is a scratch in the gel coat on the lower left panel, a very minor detent in the tank on the left side and surface scratches on the tank in front of the saddle. The carbon fender, airbox and exhaust canisters have faded to a matte finish.I have additional aftermarket parts available for purchase separately including Marchesini mag wheels, new carbon airbox and front fender, billet racing (reverse shift) footpegs, an unpainted sharkskin fiberglass race body and most of the original stock parts that were switched out.This motorcycle has had a recent complete service at Desmoto Sport in San Francisco which included valve adjustment and belt replacement. Tires are in near new condition.

Up for sale is my 1999 ducati 996 SPS limited edition. This is a very clean, near mint condition example of a 1999 Ducati 996 SPS with only 16K miles. Recent service included valve adjustment, belts inspection, shock and fork service, and overall shakedown. New Bridgestone Battlax 016 tires (I have only ridden the bike 50 miles since I got it in late November 2012). Again, this bike is an extremely clean condition, adult owned and has never been raced or dropped. I'm only selling it to help fund another project that I am finishing up, that's why it's priced to sell. Clean title in hand ready for the new owner! This bike is in super clean, in excellent working order and runs strong! Please ask any questions that you may have. Motorcycle:  2001 Ducati 996SPS +Lots of Spare PartsHere is a sport bike that does everything you ask of it and doesn't waste time asking questions.  In its day it was the World Superbike winner and was designed for exactly that.  All the adjustable suspension parts were installed on the production line and the only real modification was to add a PowerCommander to control the fuel a little better than the original ECU did by itself.  It is important to note that this bike was originally purchased by a friend in England (I bought it from him) and this particular model was never released in the US so it is an extremely rare bike.It has had some challenges since I bought it in 2008 but all of them have been overcome.  It comes with three sets of wheels:  Street tires, track slicks, and rain tires (the track slicks and rain tires are for the track only).  I have brakes for all three but only have two sets installed.  It comes with factory service manuals, front and rear stands, and the original factory bike cover.  The front stands can either be configured to pick up at the bottom of the forks or at the bottom of the steering head so maintenance on the forks is possible.  The rear wheel comes off with a single bolt but the front is a standard two fork axle.The bike has spent some time on the track (where else are you going to properly play with a 180mph bike?) so it comes with a GPS track timer although it needs to be sent back to the manufacturer to correct an issue with the display.  It also comes with some spare parts that are likely to be difficult to find; I don't have a full list but it includes a spare oil cooler, radiator, expansion coolant bottle, and some other interesting parts.  Make sure you leave me your contact information and I will send you anything I find after the sale.The only way to describe how it has been maintained is to say it was over maintenanced.  It has been to the dealership for every 6,000 mile maintenance as specified and has had its oil and filter changed every 300-500 miles for the last 12,000 miles due to the track time.  Brakes have been replaced regularly and the clutch was replaced not so long ago.Summer is coming...  You don't want someone else to buy this bike so you need to get your cash and check it outTest rides are no issue as long as I have the full asking price in cash in my hand at the time of the test ride so I don't take the risk.

Ducati 996 Desmoquattro Superbike. Excellent condition. 40,606 miles. Successor to the iconic 916, this is essentially the same bike with a bumped displacement and a better charging system. Liquid cooled, fuel injected 90 degree L-twin. DOHC, four valves per cylinder, single sided swingarm, Showa suspension. Six speed gearbox. 112 HP. This is the standard 996 Biposto (two seat position), not an S or SPS. Completely stock condition, all original - the only aftermarket part is a Yoyodyne clutch slave cylinder, to ease clutch pull. Typical of this model, the fuel level and oil pressure sending units are flaky. I use the trip odometer for fuel range, and I have tested the oil pressure with an external gauge (spec is 4-6 bar cold, this bike measures 5 bar). Good rubber - approx 40% worn. Bike runs flawlessly and needs nothing - ready to ride. Within the last 400 miles: Valve clearance adjustment, rocker arm & camshaft inspection, timing belt inspection; New OEM oil filter, synthetic oil, air filter, sparkplugs. Front and rear brake fluid flush, clutch fluid flush, coolant flush, and a new sealed glass-mat style battery. Cosmetically: only one small ding in the top of the tank. Plastic is perfect. Very clean, inside and out. No rust or corrosion anywhere. Original stainless steel exhaust is polished everywhere it can be seen with the body panels on. History: Bike was traded in at a Triumph dealer in MA where I was working as a mechanic. It was a little rough around the edges and had no available service history. I purchased it directly from my employer, and went through it completely, researching the typical issues these bikes have, and addressing each one as needed. Due to the special tools required to remove the cams and inspect the rockers, I had this work done by Ducati of Daytona. (I had moved to FL in the intervening year) Upon reassembly, head and base gaskets and a number of cooling system seals were replaced.
