1980 Vespa P200e 800.00 New registration - IN March - have the title New Battery \ I want to sell this ONLY to someone in the Seattle - Tacoma and surrounding area . Someone who can pick the scooter up - viewing the scooter before buying is recommended . I will probably be adding more Photos. Scooter has been outside for years . And not really used . I bought it long ago from a guy who had rebuilt the motor at that time...and as I recall he had two of them . As I recall he said he had just rebuilt the motor and put a "racing cam" in it [Since been told it is probably a "racing crankshaft ? ] The scooter seems really fast and takes off pretty good. About 4 years ago I had new cables put in it. It's a little beat on the body but not too bad ...broken taillight ...some rust . The odometer says about 20,700 miles but I do not know if it is working. I never really drove it ..maybe for a week or two . Probably bought it in 1995 . I was gonna drive it . Probably better if I just sold it . Talked to a couple of local scooter shops who told me that because it has sat outside for years ..it will probably run for 5 days and break down - they said the seals or something may have hardened ... Dunno ... just being honest . If you know someone who can work on them then it's probably a good deal . Scooter has always started right up ...even if I haven't started it for 12=18 months ...which is pretty amazing. Right now ....I drive it around the Block a few times to test it and it seems to run fine ..EXCEPT that it won't really idle .. if you are not hitting the throttle then it will die. If you had an expert in a shop go through and rebuild the whole engine it would probably cost you 800-1000 dollars ...if you knew how to do it ..it would just be parts and Quite a Big less than that .... I dunno ? Couple hundred bucks ? It also has the Original big old matching suitcase that fits on the back . In the pictures it is just sitting on the seat and not set up and it bolts on to the chrome rack you also see in the picture. By The way , I found a guy on the web , lives by Austin Texas . Spent 5-10 minutes on the phone with him and he rebuilds these motors . He said if he cracks open the case and not as much as usual is needed to get it right ..then it could be as low as 500. He said If it also needs a stator plate rebuild ..that's about 75 and if it needs a crankcase thingy it sounded like 20-40 bucks and if the carburator was "warped" then that was another whatever ... sounds like everything besides rebuilding the motor is relatively inexpensive and he said that it sounds like my carburator and crankcase are fine. He said after about 20 years the seals on the "clutchdrive or flywheel" side can dry up and crack and that could cause some sort of problem or need to be rebuilt ? He apparently sends you a shipping label and he charges about 65 bucks for that. Guy sounds honest and reasonable and an "intown" estimate I got from someone in seattle was about 800-1000 . Also in talking to him it seemed like the kits or necessary parts to do your own rebuild [ordered from him ] are pretty darn cheap .. he was talking like ...10 bucks for this seal and 15 bucks for that seal or part ..etc. He also said that it's not all that difficult and if you can rebuild or work on chain saw motors or lawnmowers ...you can probably handle the scooter. I do have the original manuals and wiring manuals somewhere ...but don't hold me to that .. cause I haven't looked in the boxes for a few years. He said a Vespa p200e motors [If the cases aren't blotto] are generally worth about 800 bucks ..and my price was reasonable. Apparently new motors , they must be newer motors and he said something about slightly changed over from electric to kick start [For this older kick-start Vespa ] ..in factory boxes ..cost about 2,100. http://www.americanscootercenter.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1_234&products_id=1325 Vespa Engine Rebuild $595.00 Vespa Engine Rebuild - Ship us your Vespa engine for a Professional Rebuild http://www.americanscootercenter.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1_234&products_id=1325 Vespa Engine Rebuild $595.00 Vespa Engine Rebuild - Ship us your Vespa engine for a Professional Rebuild (1) Open, inspect and reseal your rotary pad Vespa motor.
