I am selling my Kawasaki KZ650 because I am out of space and have too many projects, I bought this bike as a barn find and have had the carbs cleaned with new parts installed and installed a new battery. This bike still needs to be worked on before you can ride it, the tires do need to be replaced. The bike starts and runs but it will sometimes drag the starter some and become hard to start, as you know if you deal with old motorcycles sometimes it take a while to get all the bugs worked out after a bike has been sitting, this is such a bike do not expect to jump on it an ride away, it needs a complete check out of all the systems, the motor sounds good and runs very smooth, but it does still need some more tuning to be ready to ride, and may need the carb boots replaced it sounds like it has a vacuum leak, its not perfect but it is all original complete and has some scratches on the tank and the chrome still needs some polish work the exhaust and air box is all original, these 650 are not quite as collectable as the 900 or 1000 Kaws but they are gaining the original seat is in excellent condition as is the frame and wiring, with the original cable ties. buy it and tinker some and it should be a good ride. I have added some pics of the title and the number stamped on the neck, the OHIO title shows more miles than is on the bike this looks like a typo error because the original owner did not make the miles clear on the title and the branch assumes the worst since it is a 5 digit odometer, so the shows the incorrect mileage. 1978 KAWASAKI KZ650, Check this out! 1978 KZ 650 Bobber! Runs great, new battery, tires in good condition, fresh oil change, pod filters. This bike is super neat! Everyone at the shop takes notice. Being that it is from 78, it has some quirks but none that prevent it from being an awesome bike that starts right up everytime. Being hard tailed this bike's rear end is obviously lower to the ground then it was stock. Its quirk is that when starting and (and while turning off) we've found it is in the bikes best interest to be upright. This prevents the gas from accumulating to both of left side carburetors :) Otherwise, this bike is good to go! With regular oil changes and regular ride time we don't see why this bike wouldn't last another 30 years! The Inline four cylinder, double overhead cam engine was truly a marvel in it's time. This is the ancestor of modern day street performance motorcycles. Cool affordable little piece of history with a custom twist.

I've owned this bike for over 20 years, I'm a american motorcycle institute grad. And I have take great care of this machine. 3 years ago it got a total rebuild, custom painted frame painted a dark blue that looks black in different shades of light. Everything on this bike has been been polished! Covers,top triple tree, switch's, lower fork legs,carbs,calipers and every nut and bolt!! Recovered seat not a kit actually redone by a leather shop! Bike also has a chrome swing arm and chain guard. Brand new chain and sprockets and all new braided brake lines. Well that's for the show! Now for the go!! Motor built by John ganey of pcw racing,John is the current holder of the brute horsepower shootout in Daytona beach! Motor includes a dyno sheet!Motor was completely disassembled and all new bearings threw out! Crankshaft welded, tranny was undercut, bored to 1075cc,.cylinder head completely rebuilt new guides seals and valve job. Bike has 29mm smooth bores carbs and a dyna 2000 ignition with gray coils and dyna wires! This ignition was the best addition with today's fuel,motor is 10.5to1 and with this system you can adjust the advance and retard which allows it to be very streetable and race ready anytime! Bike also has a Kerker pipe with a large comp. Baffle. No expenses was spared asking half of what's in it! I'm getting older and really can't see as well as i like so it's time to let go! 1978 Kawasaki Kz 1000, Vintage, Very good condition. Original owner. Bike has never left Lemont, Illinois. 100% original parts and paint, except for seat, muffler and filters. After the first thousand miles I had Kawasaki dealer ship install step up seat with chrome sissy bar, Kerker headers, jetted and synchronized carbs and added K & N filters to make it the muscle machine of its time. This is meticulously maintained/serviced and stored indoors only, with cover. Runs like new. It just had a tuneup with new plugs, coils, wires and caps, Fuel lines, battery, oil and filter. Carbs were ultrasonic cleaned lubed and synchronized. Last year both front and rear master,cylinder's, Break line, calipers were reconditioned and synthetic brake fluid was used. Comes with original tool-kit and owners manual in the tail cowl tray. The chrome and paint Have some blemishes but are in really nice condition for being 36 years old. The gas tank does have one small dent. You will not find a better looking original KZ 1000 in the US with 5500 original miles. Buyer is responsible for all shipping arrangements and cost.
