1980 XLS Sportster Roadster 1200 cc Clear title in my name. Title matches the motor and the frame. Currently tagged and insured. I rode it today. Runs great. No known problems. Good motor, good trans, good clutch. New tires Recent wiring harness. All lights work New mirrors New battery. It Stays on a tender. I installed it last week. Good brakes Paughgo pipes and oil tank Bike Sits low. Great for a shorter rider New battery. New ignition switch and keys. Not installed yet. Drag specialties speedo Currently running and driving. Needs state inspection. THE TITLE SHOWS THAT THE BIKE EXCEEDS ITS MECHANICAL LIMITS. Ready for an oil change. ENGINE HAS THE 1200 KIT. MOTOR WAS REDONE WHEN THE KIT WAS DONE. NO PAPERWORK ON IT. IT WAS DONE BY THE PREVIOUS OWNER. S.U. Carb The bike has scratches here and there. It is far from perfect but in my opinion it is a cool old bike. Check out the pics. Ask questions. 1980 Harley Sportster 1000 with clear title. Matching frame numbers and motor 4e33064j0, Mileage is unknown exact due to aftermarket gauges, the speedo cable is not hooked up to speedometer, tach is with a cable. Bike has been sitting for almost 2 years with gas tank drained, looks pretty clean inside. carb is an S&S Super B and needs to be cleaned out a little and needs Fresh Gas, Battery, Electric start works great, lights too, made sure it started quickly with a quick Spray of Starting fluid and a couple cranks, sounds strong and how a Harley should. the wiring for the battery connections are a little frayed, but just could be touched up and re-fitted quickly for a more solid connection. Front and rear brakes work, just some rust on rotors and needs to be bled up front to be a little stronger. The Frame is stock and not cut or raked, the bike has been painted white at some point in time on frame, and most other areas of the bike as seen, Has chips/ and some rusting in paint not too bad ,some rust on chrome mostly good, mostly chipped up paint, and slight ding in top left of fuel tank, do not believe the gas tank is original, or the seat and buddy pad which have some rips and tears, springer seat's springs aren't attached and it flips up, would replace seat all together but these are minor things, it would make an excellent base project to work off of, or change slightly and ride as is with some quick tuning up and fresh gas/battery. bike does not need much, electric start only, brake on right/shift on left. VERY RARE Sportster XL-APRICE LOWEREDFrom 1970 to 1980 Harley made six models: 2G = XLT 3A = XLH 4A = XLCH 4E = XLS 7F = XLCR 4D = XLA (A = Military) The last two pictures are what an XL-A looks like Please note, XL-A’s were made specifically for the military up until 1965. Starting 1966 the XL-A’s were made only AFTER the military special ordered one. This bike has a matching engine and frame number # 4D52301H2 You can get information about how many of each model was produced, EXCEPT the XLA. Harley-Davidson will not give any information about Military bikes because of the Government’s confidential rules and regulations. I was told that less than 50 were made for the Military. They were used primarily for parades and escorts. They were ridden and used for parts to keep others running and then scrapped. This is the only survivor I have found other than a 1969 XLA a couple of years ago. This bike does not run. It was taken completely apart in preparation for restoration. I purchased the bike in a “Basket” I have assembled the bike to show it in its basic form and to roll. I have not put all the parts back on the bike. I have a picture of all the parts I have for the bike. (I’m told that it has the wrong carburetor.) All the wiring has been removed but included. The motor turns over freely but needs a complete overhaul. The bike also is in need of a total restoration. Once finished and done right this bike could be a priceless museum piece. The bike has a clear North Carolina Title. It has been signed off by the previous owner and notarized. My name is listed as the “first Re-Assignment” The bike has recorded mileage of 15.342 I’m getting a lot of different opinions about the value of this bike. I really don’t know the value of this bike in its present condition. It is for a collector. I think somewhere around $15,000 when finished. The auction has a buy now price of best offer.
