1985 KAWASAKI KX 125 SHOW BIKE. Just completed the last week of November. Won best of show on its first time out. It has been completely disassembled and restored to better than new. This is a living room or man cave piece. The underside is as detailed as the top side if it needed to be hung from a ceiling. There have been no fluids added since restoration other than fork oil so that there is no smell for being indoors. Frame was powder coated, All unpainted aluminum is polished. I mean everything including the carb, kick starter, rear brake lever, gear shifter, petcock, lever controls, swing arm, rear suspension, forks etc. All hardware has been yellow zinced , even the choke lever , axles , swing arm pivot bolt and foot peg springs. Tank was sent out for restoration. Engine was redone at a reputable bike shop. Forks where also serviced. Wheels where sent out to be anodized, replace spokes and restore hubs. One of a kind. LIST:New front fender, rear fender, rad shroud, side panels,seat cover, air box cover and decals.New Chain, front sprocket, rear sprocket, chain sliders, chain wheels and chain guide.New piston, ring, outer crank bearings, seals , gaskets air filter, air box boot and DG expansion chamberNew front brake hose, front tire, front wheel bearings, front spokes, front disc, fork seals,dust seals, rear tire and rear spokes. Buyer is responsible for any shipping arrangements . Bike is stored inside and can be held there for 2 weeks awaiting pickup. Can be stored longer for a reasonable fee. 1985 Kawasaki Kx 250, OK, I have decided that I need to sell my 1985 KX250. I think it needs to find a new home in someones garage who will enjoy her and not just let her sit. 1985 KX250 with a 1986 motor. Frame SN# JKAKXMD16GA004664 Motor SN# KX250DE004731 The good and the bad... Fresh rear brake pads with only about 10 minutes of use Rechromed shaft on rear shock and rebuilt shock (this was not cheap) Freshly installed used rear disc Replaced non functioning front brake setup with a working setup Replaced head gasket Replaced petcock valve New air filter element Brand new tires and tubes...nipples are still there Folding shift lever Replaced bent up rear brake lever New front brake lever New kick start lever Used expansion chamber and silencer New front chain guard Replaced cracking airboot with a good one Replaced severely damage rear chain guide New flat side carb 80 PSI compression cold with fuel turned off and carb drained I do have an extra foot peg for it. I do not have a title but am willing to go apply for replacement title Seat is a little beat up Seems to leak a little coolant from around coolant hoses. Hoses look good so I think I might have over tightened the clamps Bracket on the rear left cover needs re-welded to the frame Someone sealed air holes on the lid to the airbox. I unsealed them and installed little round UNI filters to pre-filter the air going in. Comes with everything pictured. The carbs include the original carb and some parts carbs. The top end gasket set is missing the head gasket as it has been installed. I originally bought the bike to chase the kids on their little bikes but don't find much time to ride so I really don't have any use for the bike but I don't need to sell it either. I am not interested in any trades as I already have all the toys I want, and then some. Re-chroming the shaft on the rear shock and rebuilding the shock came in somewhere in the neighborhood of $500. I didn't see the peeling chrome when I bought the bike. Counting only the rear shock, new tires/tubes and the new carb comes to over $ 1,000. I am located in Davenport, Iowa. I have tried to include everything that I could think of. Please feel free to let me know if you have any questions. I did a VIN check today and it did come back clean. I am also checking with the local police to verify this. I will be happy to apply for replacement title. I would like to ask $ 1,050 for the bike but will be open to reasonable offers. This is a 1985 Kx125. Bought it years back and the top end blew on me. Had a brand new OEM cylinder,cylinder head and power valves put back on it. Not to mention the piston,rings,seals and everything else that goes along with top end rebuild. The bike is in great shape for its age. The front fork seals will need to be changed but i have already purchased the parts for the job and that will be going along with bike.I also have a brand new UNI air filter still in the box that will go with the bike too. I just had new levers put on it and had the brakes tested and bled. The tires are old but don't show many signs of dry rot and still have plenty of meat left on them. All in all its a great old bike to learn how to ride on or keep as a spare for when friends want to come riding with you. Everything on the bike works and it runs very well, can't really ask for much more from a 30yr old machine in my opinion. 2nd owner since new. Carbs just gone through. New needle seats, gaskets. New plugs, oil/filter. New battery. New rear tire and rear brakes. Runs great. No leaks. Dent in fuel tank.
