I completely dissembled the engine and reassembled it to make sure everything was good. I am a professional motorcycle builder so I decided to modify the engine to look completely stock but run like a hotrod. The bike stock is about 15HP this one is more like 20HP. Rev's out higher and quicker and pulls strong throughout the entire RPM range. I have bought, refurbished and sold 1st Gen (81-83) Viragos for the last 8 years. I bought this motorcycle for parts a year ago but other priorities have come up and it has been in my storage locker, untouched since then. It has plenty of good parts on it. The starter assembly and flywheel alone are worth my asking price. Everything looks straight and accident-free. It was on a porch for years, but it's a California bike so most parts should clean up nicely. If you can't find $400 worth of parts on this bike, you aren't trying. Tons of torque and I've been told multiple times by friends that this was the fastest XS they've ridden. All mechanical work was professionally done by Rob Ghislain of Dinosaur Four, a specialist in vintage Japanese motorcycles. Idols strong, shifts smooth, a true blast to ride.
