I am a motorcycle fan and collector. This motorcycle is for Beemer Lovers and sports enthusiastic. Here is the History of this Police Beemer. This Police special was in service in NJ used for parade and selective escort services by the town administration. The motorcycle has excellent service records and was maintained as per the beemer's bible by the BMW dealership. The town fireman opted for this police model with his retirement package. As the luck would have it he won a Raffle ticket with a high end Motorcycle and decided to sell this baby. The gentleman from whom I purchased this motorcycle couple of years back is 83 years old was the next owner. This previous owner sold this beauty to me, rode for sometime and because of his advancing age decided to sell and I purchased from him. I was targeting for a specific sport event in Asia where I want to take this beauty,participate fully decorated..Therefore I turned NUT and did the following on this Motorcycle. 1. Took the motorcycle to BMW dealership at Arlington. They examined from bumper to bumper. One mirror was replaced as it showed some hairline cracks.Some hardware was replaced with ss factory replacements. 2. The second Police battery was removed by the previous owner to make the motorcycle light. I replaced both the batteries with factory GEL and installed the police battery. 3. I requested the dealership to change all fluids which they did including the filters. 4. I removed the radio box and some police lights as I needed the pillion rider as my Navigator on the event. 5. I retained the police chrome engine and rear side chrome bars trimming the rear section of the police bars ( see the photograph) 6. I installed a garmin 2820 GPS (BMW Navigator 3)which has Bluetooth as well as out put jack for voice guidance. 7. Arrangements for iphone setup and wired circuits for charging the same. 8. Installed VDO volt meters for both motorcycle & Police batteries. 9 Opted for a BMW tank bag and rear trunk with rider support pad. 10.Installed a "SURE FOOT" pad for the kick stand importing the same from Germany. 11.Installed pillion rider seat 12.Opted for new set of low SARGENT saddles for rider and pillion rider. ( This has less than 200 miles on them) 13.Escort radar detector installed on the LH side of the handlebar. 14.Mount for Camcorder on RH side of the handlebar. The police model is equipped with additional features which are not in the standard RT model marketed by BMW. Essentially the differences are: A .Additional oil coolers B. Additional Battery and wiring circuits. C. Anti rolling kick stand. D. High out put Alternator. E. Additional lights and special circuits. F.More accurate speedometer and higher final drive ratio gear box. ( for more details please refer the specification on BMW R 1150 RT-P in the web page) The motorcycle comes with heated grips and additional PIAA driving lights.Both tires and batteries are less than 500 miles on them. Hello :) I have 2002 BMW R1150RT for sale. Runs and rides great. Piedmont Red. Electronically controlled winshield is a fantastic option. Factory heated handgrips and driving lights (incorporated into the sides of the headlight (there are 4 lights in the headlight unit). 98,xxx+ miles (and rising, as I am still riding). Tires are decent Michelin Pilot Road 2s, front is better than rear. I would measure tread but there aren't grooves in the middle to measure, and that is where most of the wear takes place. Brand new fuel filter. I have never noticed it use any oil. No leaks or drips, etc (I have noticed the slightest dirtyness around the valve cover bolts, but very minor, just trying to be thorough). Paint is pretty decent; minor stone chips here-and-there as expected with miles. Minor (like zero-mile/hour) scuffs on the engine guards, saddle bags, and mirrors from what appears to be small tip-overs/bumping a garage while parking. I have only ridden the bike for about 1000 miles. I have never owned a mid-sized touring bike such as this, and am not sure it is the right bike for me (though I have owned an airhead and K-RS), so am listing it for sale. I was told by previous owner that it was (major?) serviced about 6,000 miles ago, not sure what that service all entailed. Also newer brake pads and oil/filter change. Some details since the prospective buyer probably wouldn't be able to ride before buying: The ABS has worked great while I have owned it. I read on some forums that it is supposed to make a whining noise while the brakes are applied, which it does. Also, I thought that the rear brake was quite grabby when I first rode it, but have since become totally acclimated to it; I'm not sure if that is normal or not, just mentioning it to be thorough in the description. Also in the interest of being thorough; the rear spring/shock is adjustable, and is adjusted to medium which is fine. The front is not adjustable and I though a little soft, but I am used to sportbikes so attributed that characteristic to the fact that it is a touring bike and designed to be that way. Again, this could be totally normal for this model but I am mentioning it just to be as thorough as possible in the description. PAYMENT is due in full within 7 days of the sale. Check payment is ONLY accepted after the payment has cleared with my bank, which can take up to 10-14 business days to do. Up for sale: 2004 BMW R1150RT with 39k miles. This bike runs great but needs a good home. Maybe someone with some motorcycle repair savvy. The ABS light stays on and the brakes feel weird. Very "grabby". I had the system drained and new fluid installed by a local bike tech, but it did not do the trick. I have since located a used ABS pump but really just want to sell it "as is". The bike has the factory stereo option, PIA Lights, Electric Windshield, Staintune Exhaust, Corbin Seat and Full BMW Luggage. All three pieces though only the Top Case is shown. There are some cracks in the body panels that you can see in the photos and the windshield is foggy. The bike is priced right for what it is as it is worth at least this much for parts. The bike comes with a Corbin seat and the original stock seat. LED fog lights, Highway pegs and a custom bag rest. The Oil was changed about 500 miles ago and the Tires have 1000 miles on them. Due to her previous life as a PD bike, the body of the bike is a 6 out of 10. There are a few scuffs and such but no major cracking in any of the body panels. The motor and rest of the bike are an 8 out of 10. If you are familiar with these bikes, you know the ABS systems are a bit finickity. The ABS does function properly all the time, though from time to time the brake lights flash without reason.
