For sale is a nice running R75/5 SWB (short wheel base) "toaster tank" model. I found this bike many years ago. No idea what real mileage is. It was left outside for a while with a cover, and therefore required a bit of work, including carbs rebuilt, new rings, points and overall maintenance. I installed brand new header pipes and finned nuts. Mufflers were just fine. It runs really well now.Electric start works perfectly, and starts the engine instantly. It shifts well, and rides quite comfortably. I put a brand new set of Hagon shocks on it. It also has a brand new seat....the whole seat, pan, grab rail and all...not just a cover. Also has new tires, and a nicely polished front alloy wheel. The rear rim is chromed steel and has some surface rust on it. Has a new air filter and spark plug cables with proper resistor plug caps. This bike would make a great restoration project for someone who doesn't want to get into rebuilding the engine or transmission, or just run it as is for a reliable everyday bike. Plenty of parts sources available for these, including here on e-bay. Original tail light assembly comes with the bike. This is a nice running machine. This is a milestone BMW in that it is the first model with the low camshaft that was to follow all the their subsequent boxer engines. Make a reasonable offer.

For sale is a bike that I took in on a trade. It was the previous owners daily driver for 3 years and never let him down. The top end was rebuilt 5,000 miles ago. Bing carburetors were also rebuilt at that time. Everything works on the bike. No turn signals as you can see from the photos. Paint is an 'interesting' color, you'll definitely get noticed. It has been done well, nice and clean and reflective. New AGM leak-free battery as of 12/15/14.

This particular bike has resided on my block now for over 42 years.  I first saw it drive by when I was 19.  I was impressed as the owner Don, who was our neighbor and mailman always putted by so slowly, and so quietly.  I remember it was not like a Honda 305, or a BSA like my cousin owned in the 60's.  I told myself that one day I would buy Dons bike.  As time went on, I grew up, had children, rode a dual sport type Yamaha 600 (Thumper) occasionally, and always kept in the back of my mind owning Dons R75/5.About 15 years ago, I saw Don one evening walking to the corner, I never had spoken to him, but now in my mid 40's, I had to talk to him and ask him if he still had the BMW, since he didn't seem to be delivering the mail anymore, and I never saw him drive by.  He told me he had it the garage, said he bought it in '74, he was the 2nd owner.  A couple of years past, and I saw that Dons house was for sale, I found out Don had passed away, and the estate was in probate. Another 6 months, maybe a bit longer passed, and one day coming home from worked, I saw my bike in Jims garage.  I stopped and asked, was that Dons BMW ?  Jim said yeah!  He had just purchased it from Dons son (somehow), and then I told Jim the story, that I'm sharing with everyone now.  Jim likes to work on motorcycles, clean them up, tinker with brakes and carbs and get them running again.  I simply said to Jim, "whenever you decide to sell it, please knock on my door, I will buy it from you!"Well, March 2005, I get laid off from a 9 year job, three months later Jim is knocking on my door, "hey, I have the bike for sale in Craigslist, and a guy is coming to see it right now.  You said you wanted me to let you know when I was ready to sell it"  I simply said, "How Much" and 'Will you take a check ?" So finally I got my bike after 30 years of waiting.  Funny thing, I never rode the bike.  Just kept it with my collection of other bikes. Now at 60 plus, it's that time, kids have grown up, I've given a few bikes to my sons, and I've elected to sell a couple other vintage bikes to get rid of some cluster. So.....Up for offer is my 1973 BMW R75/5 motorcycle, it is original, except for maybe the battery, plugs and sparkplug cables. Speedo shows 43,xxx miles.  Everything works!  Asking price $11,500

1972 BMW R 75 , Matching numbers 1972 BMW R75/5 in very good condition with the original Monza Blue paint, pin striping, chrome tank panels, and chrome side covers. The frame and tank/fender paint, and the chrome tank panels are all in good condition with a few chips/scratches/checks and the patina of age, as you can see by the photos. The side panels are in excellent condition. See 24 detailed photos on http://erie.craigslist.org/mcy/5223891441.html. It was PA inspected until the end of August 2015. Tires are good and should pass inspection again. All lights and signals work properly as well as the horn. Yuasa battery is new one year ago. Buyer will receive a new dry Yuasa battery and battery acid. It is a strong running fun to ride bike with a recent compression test measuring 160 psi in both cylinders. This bike can be run as is or restored/refurbished to the new owners desires. This is a motorcycle classic that will only increase in value. I'm selling because I have another '72 BMW R75/5, and do not ride this one much. As you can see by the photos, this bike has been modified from stock by a previous owner. It has: - Mikuni carbs, properly jetted - 2-into-1 exhaust system - Low Euro bars - Deep oil pan - Koni shocks - Corbin Gunfighter seat HISTORY: I purchased this bike a few years ago and have only ridden only about 500 miles. It is in the same condition except for a partial transmission rebuild this spring by Bancroft Vintage Motorworks in Kinsman, OH, and the addition of Napoleon bar end mirrors. Since I have owned it, I have only run non-ethanol fuel and have not had any carburetor issues. It has always been stored inside while I've owned it. VIN: 2985533 Warranty: Vehicle does NOT have an existing warranty Vehicle Title: Clear Mileage: 22,732 miles CONDITIONS OF INSPECTION/SALE: - Available to view nearly any day of the week; call me to make an appointment - Test rides only under the following conditions: 1. Motorcycles Other DX5631161624338526640166348 DX1 . the hand controls needed to be refinished and some of the cable boots were needing to be replaced. the handlebars have been exchanged for proper USA type bars and the hand controls have been refinished and correct hand grips installed. We also performed the BMW Factory recommended 10K Service on the bike; a comprehensive end to end inspection service and adjustment. Black. We also addressed all the other small stuff mentioned above as well as several other small details previously unnoticed. the new owner wanted an upgraded suspension so we installed a new pair of Progressive 1200 Series rear shocks and installed the original polished aluminum covers on them so that they look very similar to original. 1974 BMW R75/6 SOLD.... This is Serial #4910001! This is the FIRST US R75/6 off the line in the FIRST year of production for the /6 Series!!!!! Fresh 10K Service. To see more high resolution views of this bike in detail please click on the link below to direct you to our online photo storage on Picturepush or request our series of high resolution photos via an email to [email protected]. This blows it up to maximum size (about 6 times window size) and you can use the scroll bars to move around your view point like your eye is 2 feet from the bike. the previous owner had a complete mechanical and cosmetic restoration done five or six years ago and hasn? t ridden it much since. We wanted to go ride this bike for days when it was finished. None of this was really NECESSARY as only an expert would know the difference but we felt that the historic significance of this bike warranted making it perfect. We are totally confident that the new owner will fall in love with this beautiful machine and give it a well appreciated and well cared for second life. It was already equipped with an aftermarket Brown style sidestand (we like these a lot as they are much more functional than the original stand). http://picturepush.com/+sqE2 Click on one of the thumbnail photos on the left to see it larger on the right. We built a new LWB seat using all new parts on an original 1974 metal pan and is now the correct length. Tires are like new. the Dyna III ignition is a good upgrade; we? ll leave it but move the main unit out of site to the frame backbone. the bike comes with the original tool kit hand pump and Owner? s Manual. We did notice a few things that we wanted to address in an effort to make it PERFECT and as ORIGINAL as it came from the factory;. the bike had Incorrect hand grips and the centerstand tine was missing. the front disc was a 1975 on drilled disc; we planned to put an original 1974 disc back on it. New original round front footpeg rubbers and NEW NLA (No Longer Available from BMW) original round rear footpeg assemblies were sourced and installed. Only 627 Miles! 1974 R75/6. Braided Stainless front brake line (we decided to leave this instead of restoring it to rubber). the drilled front disc has been exchanged for the correct 1974 only non-drilled disc. the horn was functional but was not the correct one with black body and chrome disc in front. the FIRST off the line. It didn? t really NEED service but we wanted to know that we had addressed everything and that nothing was missed. We have now finished all the changes necessary to make this beautiful BMW just a bit more perfect and much closer to ? Original? as it came from the factory. the engine and frame numbers match. It is very close to what a new 1974 R75/6 would have been like when picked up from a Dealer; a truly wonderful machine to ride! However reality and other necessary work interfered so we only got to add 50 miles on the odometer. Then click on the larger photo on the right to see it in a full screen pop-up window. We would be happy to answer any questions you have about this BMW motorcycle; please call us at 614.837.1160. the centerstand has had the tine replaced and has been repainted. Unseen is the Progressive Suspension front progressively wound fork springs to improve road irregularity responses and lessen diving under hard braking. the seat was a SWB (short wheelbase) and needed to be exchanged for a LWB (long wheelbase) seat. the wheel spokes have been re-done with stainless (we? ll leave them as they are). A BEAUTIFUL BMW! When we first got this bike in on a Trade-in we knew that it was very special and wanted it to be as perfect as possible when we were finished preparing it for sale.
