It appears as if it gently fell onto its side, and caused only cosmetic damage. It mainly just needs a left side mirror and repairs to the front fender. Compact engine design uses a dry-sump oil supply inside the crankcase, and side-mounted radiator for surprising narrowness. 8-valve cylinder head optimizes the fuel charge for spirited performance. The cylinder head cover is ultra-lightweight magnesium to help centralize mass. A two-axis primary balancer smoothes out engine vibration for all-day riding comfort. Forged aluminum pistons and carburized connecting rods for durability and performance. Downdraft twin bore fuel injection system with 12-hole injectors is tuned for off-road adventures, and is equally at home on long stretches of open highway. The low-maintenance shaft drive is clean and reliable with a compact rear axle gear case thanks to its hypoid gear design. Chassis / Suspension The steel frame is designed to reduce rider fatigue during long rides. Using a steel main frame offers the best balance of strength and flexibility, one good at absorbing jolts from uneven road surfaces. The engine is a stressed member of the frame. Locating the crankshaft low and close the foot pegs gives the bike a remarkably light feel, even off road. The ABS and Unified Brake System (UBS) work together to help prevent wheel lock during braking. This system allows the rider to operate front and rear brakes together by simply pulling the front brake lever, especially helpful when riding while standing on the pegs. Applying the rear brake first overrides UBS to provide traditional separate front and rear brake control. Adjustable preload suspension allows the rider to adjust for varying loads or a passenger. The forks are compression and rebound adjustable and the rear shock is rebound-damping adjustable as well. A generous 6-gallon fuel tank allows for long touring with less down time for fill-ups. The Super Ténéré comes equipped with an adjustable windshield and seat height. One inch of seat height adjustment provides a low height for shorter riders or a roomier riding position for taller riders in the high position. Front and rear hydraulic discs are both wave-type for great performance on or off road. The grooved foot pegs show Yamaha’s attention to detail. While the rider is seated, rubber cushions provide excellent comfort. When the rider stands to tackle more technical riding conditions, the rubber compresses, letting the rider’s boots contact the metal foot peg surface. Photo Credit: Kevin Wing Greg Drevenstedt August 6, 2013 Filed under Ducati Motorcycle Road Tests & Reviews, Featured Road Test, Road Tests, Sport + Sport Touring Motorcycle Reviews If, as the saying goes, four wheels move the body but two wheels move the soul, then the Ducati Multistrada 1200—a snarling, sexy, technological tour de force—gives my soul whiplash. Among the hundreds of motorcycles I’ve ridden over the past few years, it’s one of a select few endowed with a game-elevating, mojo-maximizing X-factor that makes riding a transcendent experience. I can recall my first ride on the new-for-2010 Multistrada 1200 like it was yesterday: cloudless blue sky, brilliant white bike, 150-horsepower Sport mode, roaring exhaust, high-alpine section of Angeles Crest Highway. Every turn of the handlebar, every twist of the throttle felt just right. Riding near the limit with confidence and finesse, I was immersed in a state of amped-up focus, what psychologists call “flow.” Just nudge the handlebar and the Multistrada leans waaay over. The pegs never touched down, but the centerstand scraped the pavement a few times on the left side. With adventure-bike styling and ergonomics, a superbike-derived 1,198cc L-twin engine and riding modes that adjust engine output, throttle response, traction control and suspension damping, the multipurpose Multistrada nearly clinched Rider’s Motorcycle of the Year award for 2010. But it was held back by some teething issues, such as balky low-rpm fuel delivery, a mushy rear brake and leaky saddlebags (on the S Touring model), all of which were fixed under warranty or resolved for the 2011 model year (Rider, June 2010, May 2011). By offering Ducati’s unique brand of race-bred performance in a versatile, comfortable, easy-to-live-with package, the Multistrada 1200 became a bestseller. Hoping to build on its success, Ducati upgraded the Multistrada platform for 2013 and expanded its lineup to include the base model and three S models—Touring, Pikes Peak (which replaces the Sport) and the all-new Granturismo (Rider, January 2013). The Granturismo is the bike that serious sport-touring Ducatisti have been waiting for. In addition to options common to all S models, like Ducati Skyhook Suspension, saddlebags, a centerstand and heated grips, its goody bag also includes a bigger windscreen, a taller handlebar, larger saddlebag lids (increasing total capacity from 58 to 73 liters), a 48-liter top trunk, luggage liners, a rider comfort seat, auxiliary LED lights, engine protection bars and Pirelli Angel GT sport-touring tires. The icing on the cake is special matte gray paint with a gray frame and partial red pinstripes on the black 10-spoke wheels, which match the seat stitching. All of this coolness carries a price tag of $21,995—$5,000 more than the base model and $2,000 more than the S Touring. The Multistrada is very much a street-biased adventure tourer, especially in Granturismo trim with Pirelli Angel GT sport-touring tires. But it tackles rough, nasty pavement like nobody’s business. Although aesthetic changes from the previous model are few, improvements to the Multistrada 1200 for 2013 are many. The 1,198cc Testastretta 11Ëš L-twin got a dual-spark cylinder head for more complete and consistent combustion, repositioned fuel injectors for improved vaporization, and a secondary air-injection system and revised engine mapping for smoother running, particularly at low rpm and under load. At times, our test bike needed some cranking before it would start, but on the road, regardless of rpm or riding mode, the Multistrada feels more refined, purring quietly at cruising speeds and responding precisely to small throttle inputs. Yet, in full-power Sport and Touring modes, it retains every bit of its aggressive character, lofting the front wheel easily in first or second gear and ripping out of corners like the Tasmanian Devil. Claimed horsepower is unchanged at 150, but Ducati says the engine changes boosted both torque and fuel economy. On Jett Tuning’s dyno, the 2013 Multistrada spun up 139.2 horsepower at 9,300 rpm and 85.5 lb-ft of torque at 7,400 rpm at the rear wheel in Sport mode, up from 136.2 horsepower and 82.8 lb-ft on the 2010 model. And, over the course of this test, running the required premium fuel, we recorded an average of 37.9 mpg vs. 35.8 mpg in 2010. ivi-made hard saddlebags with larger-than-stock lids have 73 liters of total capacity. When it debuted three years ago, the Multistrada 1200 was one of the first motorcycles equipped with fully integrated electronics. Four riding modes (Sport, Touring, Urban and Enduro) offered different settings for engine output, throttle response and, on S models, Ducati Traction Control (DTC) and Ducati Electronic Suspension (DES). Sport mode, for example, provided full power, aggressive throttle response, mild DTC intervention and firm suspension damping. For 2013, multiple ABS modes have been added to the mix, and the passive, Öhlins-built DES has been replaced by semi-active, Sachs-built Ducati Skyhook Suspension. The Ducati Safety Pack (DTC and ABS) is now standard on all Multistrada models, not just S versions, and revisions to the eight-level DTC software make intervention less noticeable than before. The anti-lock braking system, which uses the latest two-channel Bosch 9ME ABS control unit with four pressure sensors, is now linked front-to-rear and offers three modes: ABS1 (Enduro), with less rear intervention; ABS2 (Sport), with minimal intervention; and ABS3 (Touring and Urban), with more intervention and rear wheel lift prevention. DTC and ABS can be deactivated in any riding mode, and the selection will be saved even after the ignition is turned off. Ducati Multistrada 1200 S Granturismo To stay on the leading edge of technology, the 2013 Multistrada S models are among the first motorcycles to be offered with semi-active electronic suspension. As good as Ducati Electronic Suspension was, Ducati Skyhook Suspension (DSS) is even better because damping is adjusted in real-time rather than in a fixed manner based on particular settings. The DSS control unit takes in a continuous stream of signals from the front and rear accelerometers, throttle position sensor and ABS control unit, and tells the electronic CDCi solenoid valves in the fork and shock how to respond. Each riding mode has its own “zero point”—firmest for Sport, softest for Urban—within the overall range of damping adjustment, but the entire range is available in any mode as needs require. And within each mode, DSS can be further firmed up or softened with two steps of adjustment in either direction. Front preload must be adjusted manually, but setting rear preload requires just a quick push of the button when stopped. At the Multistrada press launch last fall in Bilbao, Spain, I was intrigued but not fully convinced of the benefits provided by Ducati Skyhook Suspension. The system gets its name from the idea of the bike being “suspended from the sky,” maintaining overall stability and keeping both wheels in contact with the ground. The Öhlins-built Ducati Electronic Suspension on the previous model was sublime, and my first ride in Spain on the DSS-equipped S Touring seemed a bit lackluster in comparison. But, back at home months later, with 1,000 miles in the Granturismo’s saddle on local roads, mostly solo but also two-up, I’ve seen the light. The Sachs system is not quite as supple as the Öhlins setup, but DSS never gets out of sorts, and it responds to changes in direction, speed, lean angle and road surface better than any suspension system I’ve experienced. And on those embarrassing occasions when I got discombobulated mid-corner, DSS helped smooth my ruffled feathers. With similar systems now offered on high-end sportbikes and adventure tourers like the BMW R 1200 GS and KTM 1190 Adventure, semi-active suspension—offered along with fully integrated riding modes—is the future. Top trunk holds 48 liters, bringing total luggage capacity to 121 liters, plus storage compartments in the front fairing and under the seat. Because of its riding modes, Ducati’s marketing department touts the Multistrada as four bikes in one—a sportbike, a touring bike, an urban bike and an enduro bike. Really, it’s just one bike—a tall, adventure-styled sport tourer—that can be easily adapted to a range of riding conditions. Changing modes certainly makes a big difference in how the Multistrada behaves, but it isn’t a Transformer robot. It doesn’t adopt a crouched riding position in Sport mode, nor acquire more wind protection, a lower seat and shaft final drive in Touring mode. With a 17-inch front wheel and vulnerable hand guards with built-in turn signals (that cost $121.39 each to replace), calling the Multistrada an enduro is a bit of a stretch, especially on the Granturismo with its dedicated sport-touring rubber. But as a sport tourer, it truly excels. Both the Multistrada and the BMW K 1600 GT, winner of our last sport-touring comparison (Rider, May 2013), put nearly 140 horsepower to the rear wheel, but at 570 pounds wet the Ducati is 187 pounds lighter than the BMW, giving it a much better power-to-weight ratio. All that power is not only addictive but easy to control, though it can also be dialed back in Urban and Enduro modes (to 100.9 horsepower and 69.3 lb-ft of torque) for a more laid-back, fuel-efficient ride. The Multistrada’s wide handlebar—which is 0.8-inch higher than stock on the Granturismo thanks to taller risers—and fairly sporty steering geometry give it light, effortless handling. Ducati’s signature strong, lightweight trellis frame contributes to the Multistrada’s agility, and the top-shelf, triple-disc Brembo brakes provide marvelous control and stopping power. Stubby brushed-metal 2-1-2 exhaust is stylish but partly hidden by the saddlebag. Removing the hard luggage transforms the look of the bike. Taller riders will appreciate the Multistrada’s riding position, which allows for upright posture, a short, natural reach to the handlebar and plenty of legroom. The lofty 33.5-inch seat height isn’t adjustable, but a 1-inch lower seat is available as an accessory. The Granturismo’s comfort seat is firm but supportive, and the passenger seat and backpad on the top trunk get high marks from my fiancée (her only complaint was the severe lean angles I carried through most of the corners!). One hand is all it takes to operate the pinch-and-slide mechanism to raise or lower the windscreen, which on the Granturismo is wider and taller than stock and is lightly tinted. Wind protection is as good or better than other adventure bikes, but not as good as most sport tourers since they typically have wider fairings and windscreens. Hand guards and heated grips provide some additional protection against the elements. The Givi-made saddlebags and top trunk are cavernous and are easy to open, close and remove (though they can’t be left unlocked), and use the same key in the remote ignition fob that opens the fuel filler. Dual radial-mount 4-piston Brembo calipers with a radial-pump master cylinder. Amazing brakes. Grace notes abound on the Multistrada, like the LED headlight and position lights, keyless ignition and steering lock, Brembo radial-pump clutch and brake master cylinders, removable rubber inserts in the cleated footpegs, storage compartments in the front fairing and under the passenger seat, and two 12V sockets. But it has quirks, too, like mirrors that vibrate too much and turn signals that don’t self-cancel. Also, when riding with the balls of my feet on the pegs, my heels rest on the centerstand (left) and swingarm (right). Given the Multistrada’s mission and broad appeal, cruise control, a tire-pressure monitor and adjustable ergonomics would be useful additions. Like most Ducatis, the Multistrada 1200 isn’t for everyone. It has love-it or hate-it styling (overall, I’m a fan, but I’ve never warmed up to its sharp beak with flared nostrils), a raucous engine with a barky exhaust and a boatload of technology that some regard as too complex or simply unnecessary. But it has won me over with a potent blend of performance, handling and goosebump-inducing excitement—the very qualities that have made me a two-wheeled addict from the very beginning. The much-improved Multistrada, especially in S Granturismo trim, has fully realized its sport-touring potential. This one fits that category quite easily. The first thing I will tell you is that I am no expert on Yamaha motorcycles. What all this means to the rider is the most linear torque possible and amazing throttle control. This engine design allows a whole new level of rider - machine communication. One of the most important benefits is the outstanding cornering performance that increased engine control allows. The key engineering goal for the new R1 is increased power with excellent controllability. Horsepower increases have gained through increased intake air volume, reduced internal friction and weight reductions. The new R1 is a "rider's machine". New, 4-valve cylinder head design features new compact pent roof combustion chambers that utilize lightweight titanium valves on the intake side. The 4-valve design optimizes breathing efficiency and overall engine performance. Combustion chamber volume is carefully monitored to ensure exact volume for maximum power. New, larger valves for 2015. Titanium intake valves are 33mm in diameter ('14 = 31mm) while the steel exhaust valves are 26.5 mm in diameter ('14 = 25mm). The lightweight titanium intake valves reduce reciprocating weight allowing for higher rpms without the concern of valve float. New intake port shape provides maximum filling efficiency. The port shape, valve placement and combustion chamber shape induce a tumbling effect of the inbound fuel - air charge that increases combustion speed, power and torque. 13:1 compression ratio All new "finger follower rocker arms" are used. This system reduces friction, allows greater valve lift and provides super accurate control of valve opening and closing at high rpms. The sliding area of the rocker arms feature a DLC (diamond like coating) to reduce friction and wear. Valve adjustment pads sit under the rocker arm. Valve adjustment intervals are every 40,000 kms. Newly designed high performance intake & exhaust cams work in conjunction with the new finger follower rocker arm system. New design, lightweight, closed deck aluminum cylinder features a ceramic coating applied directly to the liner-less aluminum block to ensure uniform heat dissipation reduced friction and reduced weight. Closed deck design allows the cylinders to be spaced more closely together, providing a narrower engine. Cylinder is a stand-alone design (not integrated into the upper crank case). Offset cylinder / crank design offsets the cylinder block relative to the crankshaft (to the exhaust side) to reduce frictional losses between the pistons and the cylinder wall during the power stroke for improved power output. New, short skirt, forged aluminum pistons offer light weight, fast throttle response and great reliability. The piston features a box shaped "bridge box " on the underside for increased rigidity and a special Deflic coating to further reduce friction. Ring expansion tension is optimized to reduce frictional losses. New piston oil coolers spray oil at the underside of the piston to reduce piston temperatures. New, narrower cross plane crankshaft design. Crankshaft is over 25 mm (1") narrower than the '14 version. Crank inertial moment has been engineered to achieve linear throttle response, strong acceleration and excellent cornering exit control. To achieve excellence response when accelerating, the inertial moment of the crankshaft has been set at a level approximately 20% less than the '14 YZF-R1. All new, super light, fracture split titanium connecting rods feature a nutless design. The lower end "cap" of the rod is made from the same piece of material as the upper portion and is cracked away in a process known as "fracture splitting". This process ensures true big end roundness and greater precision in con rod dimensions. Lightweight design (60% lighter than a conventional steel con rod) reduces horsepower losses and provides faster throttle response. These fracture split "Ti" rods are a world's first to be used on a production motorcycle. New single axis balancer shaft is used to reduce engine vibration. Compact ACM (alternator) is mounted directly to the crankshaft. The compact ACM uses rare earth magnets which produce more power for a given size than conventional magnets, therefore reducing size and weight. Newly designed, Mikuni fuel injection system features twin injectors (one set of primary & one set of secondary injectors). This twin injector system is also used on our M1 MotoGP race bike and the R6. One set of injectors (primary) are located in the 45mm throttle bodies while the secondary injectors are located in the air box very near the computer controlled intake funnels. The primary injectors utilize 12-holes to maximize the fuel atomization process. The secondary injectors, located inside the air box, begin to function at mid rpms onwards to supply more fuel as required and also use 12-hole injectors. Dual oxygen sensors (located just before the muffler box) make this a "closed loop" type FI system, which feeds back info to the ECU so adjustments can be constantly made to the fuel-air mixture for improved performance and reduced emissions. The benefits of fuel injection include excellent throttle response, great fuel economy, reduced emissions, stable idling and no choke start up. YCC-T: Yamaha Chip Control Throttle electronically controls the throttle valves for outstanding response and improved throttle control at all rpms. The YCC-T is used to provide super precise control of the intake air volume for smoother torque character. YCC-I: Yamaha's Chip Controlled Intake means the intake funnels / stacks vary in length (2 positions) depending on engine rpm. An electronic servo motor varies the funnel length from the tall position at low to mid rpms to the shorter setting for improved high rpm power. The revolutionary YCC-I provides the best of both worlds... solid low rpm torque and power combined with an amazing high rpm rush. It takes only 0.3 of a second for the funnels to move from the tall to the short position. Maintenance-free transistor controlled ignition (TCI) provides a hot spark for sure starts and strong engine performance. New design, compact 6-speed transmission features optimized gear ratios for maximum performance. The "stacked" 3-axis gearbox / clutch design centralizes mass and keeps overall engine size shorter front to back. The stacked design gives the engineers the freedom to place the engine in the "sweet spot" of the frame for optimum weight balance for awesome handling. New, more compact multi-plate slipper and assist clutch assembly (back limiter clutch) reduces rear wheel hop when making down shifts under hard braking. Key benefit is reduced lap times and smoother control. New clutch design is 19% lighter and 7% smaller in diameter than the '14 model. "Ram Air" system force feeds outside air via a duct located between the new LED headlights into the intake system, pressurizing the air box and improving intake efficiency at higher speeds. As speed increases, the air pressurizes the air box, helping the engine to develop maximum power. New, larger computer optimized large capacity 10.5 litre air box maximizes performance. New M1 inspired intake duct with solenoid valve reduces intake noise and improves high rpm power. A viscous type, high flow air filter is utilized. All new, mid ship design 4 into 2 into 1 exhaust system features lightweight titanium header pipes and muffler. This new design maximizes power, reduces weight, it also centralizes mass and lowers the centre of gravity for fast, light, agile handling. This system also contains dual 3-way honeycomb catalyzers which reduce harmful CO and HC exhaust emissions. New exhaust valve device is located in the under engine chamber and it features two separate exhaust flow routes depending on rpm. By controlling the exhaust routing in selected rpm ranges, it has been possible to build a compact muffler that achieves both outstanding power output and torque characteristics while still providing sufficient silencing performance. Yamaha's EXUP System (Yamaha's Exhaust Ultimate Power Valve) controls the exhaust pressure waves for optimum intake and exhaust efficiency. It also helps prevent the "blow back" phenomenon caused by valve overlap and helps reduces "flat spots" in the power band while reducing emissions at the same time. New, high-efficiency curved radiator features dual ring-type fans for maximum cooling efficiency. This curved rad design provides more airflow than conventional flat rad designs. New, air-cooled oil cooler sits below the main rad to maintain stable lubricant temperatures. Water pump is located on the outside of the crankcase to reduce crankcase width. Optimized wet sump lubrication system features new oil routing to the big end rod bearings. New, lightweight, deep bottom magnesium oil pan. Convenient spin-on type oil filter is used. New lightweight magnesium cylinder head cover & crankcase covers secured by new lightweight aluminum bolts. High performance direct ignition coils (ignition coil is built into the spark plug cap) reduce weight while iridium spark plugs and high-output magneto deliver increased spark energy.ELECTRONIC RIDER AIDS:Many of the following rider assist aids are derived from Yamaha's MotoGP race efforts and help make the new R1 more controllable and more enjoyable to ride. We call them Yamaha Ride Control or YRC. At the heart of the electronic rider assist aids are the IMU or Inertial Measurement Unit and ECU or Electronic Control Unit. The IMU detects three directions of acceleration and angular velocity (total of six directions). Additionally the IMU detects primary position by the G-sensor when the ignition switch is turned on. The IMU calculates each signal and finds the vehicle position and behavior (lean angle, slide speed, pitching rate, etc.), and then in conjunction with the ECU it uses this information to control each of the YRC systems. PWR: Power Delivery Model is Yamaha's variable throttle control that enables the rider to adjust the performance characteristics of the engine based on riding preferences or conditions. There are 4-power settings available from an enhanced race setting to a slippery condition setting with softer power characteristics. TCS: Traction control system with lean angle sensor features 9 adjustment settings plus an off setting for a total of 10 settings. The system uses front and rear wheel sensors to detect slip and then adjusts / regulates power via the ECU / IMU to control rear wheel traction. In addition to detecting difference in speed between the front and rear wheels, this new system uses input on the degree of bank / lean angle to adjust the degree of TCS intervention to an optimum level in relation to the riding conditions in real-time. As the banking angle increases, the amount of TCS intervention also increases. When the TCS is off, SCS, LIF and LCS systems will automatically shut off as well. SCS: Slide Control System controls engine power when side slip is detected. It adjusts power output to an optimum level to control side slide. There are 3 settings plus off. LIF: Lift Control System (a.k.a. anti-wheelie control) reduces time loss due to wheelies during closed course competition. This system reduces front end lift during starts and acceleration. When the IMU and other sensors detect lift, engine output is adjusted to the optimum level to maintain string acceleration without lift. There are 2 settings plus off. LCS: Launch Control System is adopted to help ensure fast, strong, controllable starts in closed course competition situations. When the LCS is activated, it keeps engine rpm limited to approx. 10,000 rpm and maintains an optimum level of engine power in conjunction with inputs from the TCS and LIF systems, allowing the rider to concentrate on clutch engagement and the other competitors, reducing stress associated with race starts. QSS: Quick Shift System provides smooth, fast upshifts even at full throttle. When the switch on the shift lever rod detects motion, it adjusts engine output and momentarily cancels out the drive torque to promote faster gear shifts. There are 2 settings plus off.CHASSIS/SUSPENSION All new Aluminum Deltabox frame has been designed to offer an optimized rigidity balance to maximize handling performance. This frame offers lightweight and a balance of strength, rigidity and tuned flex. This is a gravity cast frame. The engine is stressed member with rigid mounts. The chassis is designed for optimized overall rigidity balance in the longitudinal, lateral and torsional directions. The result is excellent high-speed stability, cornering characteristics, traction / drive characteristics exiting a corner and greater freedom in choosing a line to run through a turn. The frame design is left-right asymmetrical. Detachable magnesium cast rear subframe reduces weight. The detachable design allows rear shock access and is less costly to repair if accidentally damaged. Lightweight aluminum "upward truss-type" swingarm provides great torsional rigidity for excellent rear wheel traction and control. Swingarm length is 570mm, 15 mm shorter than the '14 model and provides excellent control of the effects of chain tensioning during hard acceleration. Wheel base is a compact 1,405mm (55.3"), 10mm shorter than the '14 version This Deltabox chassis offers an incredible 56 degree lean angle. New, fully adjustable KYB 43mm inverted fork provides good cushioning feel and a solid feeling of front-end contact with the road. Adjustments include 9 turns of spring preload, 17 -way rebound and 7-way compression damping. Front wheel travel is 120mm (4.7"). The adjustable design allows the rider to tailor suspension settings to match rider weight and road /track conditions to maximize handling and suspension performance. MotoGP M1 inspired, gravity cast aluminum upper triple clamp reduces weight and improves styling. Bottom link Monocross rear suspension utilizes a fully adjustable KYB piggyback-style rear shock. Adjustments include spring preload, 17-way rebound and 10-way slow speed compression damping and 3-way high speed compression damping. The bottom link design lowers the centre of gravity for excellent handling. Overall shock length can be adjusted by 5 mm. The adjustable design allows the rider to tailor suspension settings to match rider weight and track or road conditions to maximize handling and suspension performance. Rear wheel travel is 120mm (4.7"). New electric steering damper All new, radial mount, 4-piston monoblock calipers with aluminum pistons squeeze fully floating 320mm dual front rotors. The result is incredible braking performance with excellent control and lever feedback. Other features include; Nissin radial master cylinder, stainless steel mess brake lines and new front brake lever. Single piston slide-type Nissin rear caliper with aluminum piston squeezes a lightweight 220mm rotor. Both front and rear brakes are linked via Yamaha's Unified Braking System (UBS) and feature our latest anti-lock brake (ABS) technology. All new, lightweight, die cast magnesium 10-spoke mag wheels. These wheels save over 1 kg of weight Vs last year's model and contribute to excellent suspension and handling performance. They feature a smooth exterior finish without centre ribs and an electrostatic paint process. Front rim size is MT3.50 x 17 while the rear is MT6.00 x17. New, lightweight 17 litre aluminum fuel tank provides excellent knee grip for hard braking and easy manoeuvrability. Fully digital instrument panel with TFT liquid crystal display. The instrument panel offers a striking rider-machine "interface." Displays have been concentrated into a single 4.2-inch screen that adopts a fully transmissive Thin Film Transistor (TFT) liquid crystal display that reduces reflections and glare. White or black backgrounds can be selected and it features auto brightness adjustment based on available ambient light. Two modes are available street and track.
