I had this bike on auction about two years ago and it went to $3500.00. The buyer wanted to re-live his past. After the sale the buyers son sent a message that his Dad had died, but if I wanted he would still honor the sale. After consideration I decided to keep it. I bought this in a basket years ago and spent hours trying to put it back to original as I could. It is as close as I could get considering how hard it was to find plastics and other parts. Engine, transmission and frame parts are no problem. I have turned down many offers for it but could never bring myself to sell. I'm now 65, handicapped and a DAV, I can't start it or even get on it. If you are local to Mecklenburg county Virginia I reserve the right to not sell to you, just can't stand the thought of seeing it after the sale. This bike has been the love of my life. It will need a good cleaning to get it into a collection, it's been setting in the garage for over a year and dusty. This morning I put gas in it and it started on the 2nd kick. Runs even better than it looks, too many new parts to list, Mileage is original to bike. If no one buys this in a reasonable time I may change my mind end the sale, and put it back in the garage.

When it appeared, it was the first modern four-stroke enduro motorcycle and the first mass-produced 4-valve motorcycle. The XL250, laid the groundwork for the revolutionary big modern four-stroke-enduro wave. It has only 6600 miles on it, always starts easy, runs strong, and looks great! It has just been professionally serviced including adjustment of the timing, valve clearance, brakes and clutch. The carburetor has been ultrasonically cleaned and gaskets replaced; then the mixture was adjusted. Headlight, taillight, switches and horn are in good working order. New items include chain, battery, spark plug, carb and petcock gaskets, fuel hoses and filters. Any shipping costs and arrangements are the responsibility of the buyer. FOR SALE 1977 HONDA XL350 We bought this bike a few years ago from a long time friend. This friend had owned this bike since 1985. Way back in 1985 he set off on a journey to create his own version of Bill Bell's Baja Bullet from the late 1970's. Clean and clear Oregon title. First off was the installation of a 403cc Powroll big bore kit. Also installed at that time was a mild Megacycle cam. While disassembled a brief clean up and smoothing out of the cylinder ports was done. Next was the fitting of a 1980 Honda XR500 carburetor. Well known for running great and good gas mileage. While the bike was apart the frame was cleaned up and any unneeded mounting hardware or tabbing for the OEM air filter box and battery stuff was neatly removed. Frame was professionally painted as Bob was pro-painter and owned his own auto body shop. At this time a custom "Mugen-like" air box was handmade and neatly installed/mounted on this bike. Bob is also a great fabricator. A new Al Baker's XR's Only exhaust pipe was purchased and installed. Still looks good. Sounds great! Header pipe has minor surface rust. While the rear end was apart the frame rails were custom modified for the installation of a at-the-time "modern" 1982 CR480 seat and rear fender section. Eliminating the big heavy XL350 seat and seat lock/helmet holder parts. All street-legal parts including: lights, wireharness, switches ETC were removed and are not included in the purchase of this bike. This bike could be made street legal again with time and effort finding the parts. We'd leave it just like it is though. A de-tabbed Honda XR500 rear swingarmwas mated up to the frame at this time as well. New mounts were made for the install of an UNKNOWN brand chain slider and chain guide. Both slider and guide are intact and in good used shape 1981-ish Honda XR500 front forks and clamps were installed. Increasing suspension travel and dampening. Custom steering stops were added to frame to make the new forks clear the then-new Clarke plastic tank. The Clarke tank now is a bit faded with some discoloration. Some of this fade disappears when you spray shiny stuff on it. We sprayed shiny stuff on it for the pics. You can see some of the stain on the sides though. Petcock currently functions fine. The vent tube nipple on the Clarke cap is broken. New caps are still avail from Clarke. In 1985, new Works Performance shocks were installed at that time too. Shocks are not leaking currently in 2016. Both seem to rebound and dampen nicely. Bike starts are runs well. Makes excellent power. Ideal for Vintage MX, trail riding or perhaps even flat tracking. Instant 2-3 gear wheelies on command. No clutch slipping needed. Brakes work decently well. Could probably use a good cleaning of the drums and shoes. Both still work OK and do not drag or stick when used. Shorty front brake lever decreased leverage and makes the cable pull harder than OEM. Front/rear tires are in good used shape. Mileage unknown. Front and rear rims are clean without dents or damage. Each wheel has 3-4 corroded spokes. Could be cleaned up and detailed with little effort. Front CR480 fender is faded but is not cracked. Rear CR480 fender is in good clean shape. Seat does not have any rips or tears. Foam feels nice and comfy. The aluminum Inter-Am handlebars are in good shape. After market controls work decently well also. The shorty clutch lever makes the clutch pull seem a bit firm. Throttle operates decently. The upper end of the throttle cable housing is separated from the end cap on the housing. Still works OK. Has a SUPER COOL solid aluminum exhaust valve cover with manual decompressor device built it. Cable is hooked up to a lever on the handlebar. All these parts work nicely. This bike was casually trail ridden in the Oregon coastal mountains for several years before being parked. Exact mileage on engine and performance parts is UNKNOWN. Mileage on the speedometer reads 9369. Bob said these meter was purchased at a local salvage yard though. Right before we purchased it Bob removed the top end to inspect for wear. All looked great and was reassembled with new gaskets. Bike starts and runs cleanly. No smoke. No unusual knocks, ticks or smoke, Transmission shifts smoothly. All kickstart parts operate properly too. This is an old bike with a lot of cool parts on it. Lots of time and effort was spent on this bike way back in 1985 to make it what it is. Bob is very meticulous. He was a auto-body paint shop owner and was also known to build custom tube-frames for sand rails. With a couple new fenders, number plates and perhaps that Bill Bell MR250 gas tank you would have quite the vintage racer!!!! Or simply ride and enjoy as-is. This bike does not have any remaining warranty. Sold as-is. With any 39 year old bike you will need to clean/replace/adjust/tune to your specific needs. It was in absolutely terrible wrecked condition, so i rebuilt the entire bike to new from ground up, no used parts, if a part was re-used it was at minimun inspected and powdercoated. This is a top caliber no expense spared build. Im selling the trike to buy a Harley Davidson. Clear title, dmv inspected and current on and offroad tags. Trike features: Kenda front tire on a centered douglas chrome wheel, 3 sets of rear tires all on douglas chrome wheels, set for dirt, sand, street 1984 ATC 25OR Front and rear suspension (newly rebuilt) lots of travel. Wide 82 250r triple trees and hub, handles much better than skinny in every aspect! Comes with a skinny front end as well if you prefer it. 1983 Honda ATC 200E Motor that has been highly modified: k&n air filter, big flatslide mikuni carb (dyno tuned), mossberger intake manifold, flow ported head, hd valves and springs, top end grind camshaft, 12:1 wiseco piston on 1st oversize (race gas recommended) rebuilt crank and bearings, new electrical system (no part missed) hig rev ignition coil and cdi box, rebuilt transmission top to bottom. Custom built exhaust using DG parts. The motor has electric start and pullstart and a high/low range gearbox. hinson hd auto clutch and springs. Clarke oversize clear gas tank, Blue/black honda seat cover with white maier plastics front and rear Oregon headligh/taillight/blinker combo, Custom made grabrail with lights built in Custom made Chromoly swingarm, Honda TRX 450r complete rear end, modern easy chain adjustment and great reliable brakes. Lightweight lipo battery and aluminum holder Moose handlebars and billet thumb throttle Blue, silver and white powdercoating, everything is powdercoated even the motor! shines/sparkles in sun! beautiful bike!! show quality This bike is offroad oriented. Top speed using a gps is 65-70mph. Its just a bit faster than a honda atc 350x in a drag race for comparison. It has climbed every hill its been pointed at offroad (including oregons widowmaker and banshee hill) and is very fast for a small bike. The suspension is setup for 170lb rider for motocross use. The bike handles absolutely amazing offroad, slides around every corner with no typical 2 wheeling known by 3 wheelers. I reccomend 50% race gas with the current piston. Mileage is approximetly 1500 since new, the included speedometer long ago broke (snagged on a log) and i just used a cellphones gps for speedometer. Title states 10,000 (what the bike had before i rebuilt it). The plastics are a little scuffed from woods riding and the rear has a small hole from hitting the exhaust pipe. The lipo battery needs replaced soon. taillens is cracked (still works fine) carb is jetted for sea level elevation. i have spare needles and jets for any elevation included. Ive tried to list all imperfections i can possibly think of, please call with further question (DO NOT EMAIL ME PLEASE!!) This is a very reliable bike and has been a blast to build and ride, i hope someone else will enjoy it as much as i have. A almost complete roller 200x, windshield and lots of other spare parts included. Trim 2006 XL883 low miles

Honda : XR 1986 Honda XL600R, Custom Dual Purpose One Of A Kind Adventure Touring, Rebuilt

Up for sale is my 1986 Honda XL600R. I completely rebuilt this bike during the winter of 2012-2013 (about 1.5 years ago) and built as an adventure-touring motorcycle. At that time I also completely re-did the color scheme, changing it from red/white to what you see now, white/blue/orange. I have listed the mileage as 1200, because that is the miles I've put on the bike since the rebuild. The mileage showing on the odometer is 30,388, and the odometer works so I believe that is correct for the chassis. I went through ALMOST everything on the bike and either refreshed it or replaced it. I am a professional machinist and metal fabricator and, with the exception of the engine top end work, I did all the work myself. In this listing, when I say something is "new" that means it was purchased brand new during the rebuild. FRAME:The bike was stripped down to the frame and the frame was sandblasted. After sandblasting the rear subframe was reinforced to be able to carry extra weight (panniers, top case, extra fuel, etc.). The main cross brace across the top of the rear subframe (the brace which holds the seat) was replaced with 3/16" steel (the original was much less stout, probably .065" thick). Mounting bosses were also welded to the bottom rear of the main frame cradle to make mounting a center stand easier at some point in the future. Flanges were welded to the rear subframe to accept passenger footpegs in the future, and also to provide a place for the luggage racks to be supported. After all that was done, the frame was painted white. ENGINE / FUEL: The top end was re-done with a Wiseco 101mm high compression piston and re-bore to boot. A professional valve job was also done at that time. New cam-chain fitted. The stock carburetors were rebuilt with OEM Honda rebuild kits. The small cast aluminum arms which hold the carburetors together had broken so I fabricated stainless arms which now hold them together; they are stronger than stock. Throttle control cables (as well as all the other cables) were lubed. Fuel petcock disassembled and cleaned. Carbs are jetted for high altitude but I will include a few other jets to play around with. An oil cooler with custom-machined aluminum rock-guard was fitted, and is partially plumbed with aluminum hard-line and AN fittings. Period correct (!) Supertrapp muffler. Headers wrapped with fiberglass header wrap. SUSPENSION: The suspension is all stock. Front fork seals are new. Blue fork boots are new. ELECTRICAL: The CDI unit and the ignition coil are new replacements. The stator is a brand-new (this year) Ricky Stator. Ricky Stator stators are the top-of-the-line replacement units for the XL600R. New battery. All other electrical components are stock and performing well. LIGHTING: The front headlight has been replaced with a pair of 6" round lights. Night-time lighting is excellent. All turn signals, gauge lighting, dash indicator lights, tail lights, and brake lights function properly. BODY: This is where I did most of the custom work. The original fuel tank was painted in the new white/blue/orange color scheme. It is in good shape; there is one small dent on the front right side, a bit smaller than a dime. There is one paint chip on the right side at the edge of the seat. The original seat was reupholstered to match the tank in the same color scheme. The side panels, which were originally white, were re-painted white and 3M blue and orange adhesive sticker sheet material was applied. The white paint is scraping off the side panels in some areas but it's not too noticeable, as the plastic underneath is also white. The rear fender is blue and was originally from a Kawasaki KDX250, and has in integrated tail light. The front fender is from a BMW R100GS, painted white (originally black). Like most BMW stuff it is high quality, and does not buffet around in the wind. The front fairing, which houses the twin headlights, is custom fabricated aluminum. It is painted white and has the same blue/orange 3M sticker material as the side panels. The fairing also carries a short windshield, which is great on the highway. HANDLEBAR AREA: Handlebars are aftermarket Renthal aluminum bars. Grips are black Scott brand. Brushguards (barkbusters) are white plastic without aluminum reinforcements (I have been told the aluminum ones can bend and pinch your hand in a serious crash, plastic is preferable). Bars are mounted on Rox Risers vibration-dampening bar risers, a very nice item. Garmin GPS unit is mounted on handlebars in a custom machined mount which features a power switch (in case you want the GPS off), a USB port (for charging your phone or whatever) and a sun-shade (to reduce glare on the GPS) The stock speedometer is functioning, although a bit jumpy. It is, however, mostly blocked by the GPS, which is no big deal because the GPS has a more accurate speedometer on it anyway. Steering bearings were re-packed with grease. KLR mirrors. BRAKES: A good used front rotor was fitted and is in good shape; its got years of hard use still left. New front brake pads and new rear brake shoes were fitted. Brake fluid in the front brake system was flushed and replaced. TIRES/WHEELS: The wheels were sandblasted and then painted partially orange to match the bike color scheme. Wheel bearings are all new. Tires front and rear are Heidenau K60 Scout, with probably about 1000 miles on them (in other words they are very close to new and have tons of tread left). Tubes were replaced at the time of the new tires. PANNIERS/RACK: I custom designed and fabricated the pannier system, which uses Pelican 1500 cases on both sides. The pannier mounting system is integrated with the rear rack and is entirely fabricated from stainless steel tubing (and small amounts of plate). The goals for the pannier system were that it should be very easy and quick to mount and unmount the bags, and also that the frames should be visually unobtrusive. To that end I made the pannier frames in the shape of an L, as opposed to the more normal rectangle seen on most aftermarket pannier systems. There is also no cross-member that goes across the rear of the bike. In my opinion, those are measures that aftermarket companies take when designing these pannier systems which are intended to make installation easy and "universal", but they don't look good. I really tried to make this system better and I think I succeeded. The bags go onto the bike in about 20 seconds each and come off in 10 seconds. The Pelican cases are, of course, lightweight, crush-proof, and water-proof. The pannier racks are also easily removable, while leaving the rear rack in place. OTHER: Chain is new O-ring. Front fork brace is custom made by me. Air filter is new UNI (the best). There is a custom-made aluminum "tool tube" mounted below the headlights for carrying a tool kit. Fresh oil change ("fresh', as in: this week) Also has XRs Only oil temperature dipstick... nice! This bike was a lot of fun to build and a lot of fun to ride. I took it on one trip up into Colorado and it performed superbly. It was even a little bit faster on the pavement than the KLRs in my group! It has never been dropped or crashed. Bike starts on the first or second kick once you get the hang of the technique. There are videos on youtube which talk about how to kickstart an XL600R. An injury to my right heel has forced me to find a bike with an electric start and that is the reason I'm selling this bike. I am leaving the country for about a month on June 19th, so I will only be listing this bike once before then.
