It's a street-legal bike, passing one of the most stringent California DMV requirements. It was last serviced at an authorized KTM dealer, GP Motorcycles, in San Diego, CA on 1/23/2016. Clean title. No newcomer to single-cylinder streetbikes, KTM has offered a variety of dual-sport machines since 1994 and its supermoto-inspired Duke range since '96. But it wasn't until '04 that the Austrian firm introduced a proper streetlegal supermoto model. Essentially an RXC dual-sport with 17-inch street tires, a larger-diameter front brake rotor and dual underseat mufflers, the 625 SMC is based on the 50-horsepower LC4 engine that's powered KTM thumpers since the late '80s. As such, it's a generation behind the latest KTM Racing four-strokes, and it feels likeit. Mind you, those bikes aren't street-legal. In a word, the KTM is different. Riders coming from European iron will feel right at home, but those coming from Japanese hardware will find the bike rather peculiar. Start with the switchgear: The left-side handlebar cluster has two rocker switches, the lower one activating the turn signals and the upper one the headlight; confuse the two and you could find yourself riding in pitch black. Further complicating matters are the two buttons on the backside of the upper switch, one actuating the horn and the other killing the engine. Again, you do not want to confuse the two. The enduro-derived instrumentation also takes some getting used to. Although the KTM has a left-side kickstarter, it also has an "electric leg"-so you'll only have to kick it if you kill the battery. Quaintly carbureted rather than fuel injected, it still has a manual choke lever and a petcock. Remember those? Toggle the kill switch to Run, push the starter button and the engine turns over a few times before settling into a coarse idle. Owing to the lean EPA jetting in the 41mm Keihin carb, the 625cc SOHC single is exceedingly cold-blooded. We had to raise the idle rpm while the engine was cold and then lower it after it warmed. With its hydraulically actuated clutch and strong low-end power, the 625 lunges from a standstill; take care not to give it too much throttle unless you want to wheelie. Throttle response is generally good, but it's a bit sluggish at low rpm and there's a noticeable flat spot in the midrange. Raising the carburetor needle by lowering the clip one position helped some. The large gaps between gears are obvious at every upshift, a side effect of the five-speed transmission and tall final gearing. An overdrive sixth would be nice, but that would mean narrower, weaker gears and/or wider crankcases, neither of which would be acceptable. Counterbalancer or no, the LC4 is a shaker, the vibes worsening right about the time it starts to make good power. Extended freeway cruising will shake loose change from your pockets, the contacts out of your eyes and possibly the fillings from your teeth. The upright seating position is roomy, but the suspension is stiff and the saddle hard; extended romps will make you feel like you just got back from Brokeback Mountain. With its wire wheels shod with aggressive Pirelli MT60 tires, the KTM handles well on street and dirt, its light steering seemingly contradicting its stable overall feel. Our main performance complaint had to do with excessive engine braking, which made the rear tire chatter during downshifts and when backing it into corners; a little clutch slippage works wonders here. The 625 comes standard with a quality Magura tapered handlebar and black plastic handguards that help ward off car mirrors and protect the levers in tipovers. And given the sorts of antics the SMC invites, you will tip over. Beautiful Moto Guzzi Eldorado for sale. 22,458 miles, may be a little higher by auction close. 400 miles put on the bike since the following service work has been performed: Cylinders stripped of chrome lining and replaced with Nikasil, by Millenium Technologies, in Wisconsin. The original pistons are matched to the cylinders and all new rings direct from Italy installed. Their work is beautiful. New spark plugs, plug wires, throttle cables, choke cables replaced with flip type levers, (originals included), distributor cap, rotor, points and condensers. The tank and the carbs were cleaned. The oil and final drive lube is fresh. The bike has a new Odyssey 925 battery, very powerful. It starts at the touch of the button and runs great. Very nicely balanced bike in the curves. The bike has the stock head pipes mated to Bub mufflers. The mufflers are very desirable and now unobtainable. Their sound is throaty and mellow, not overly loud or harsh. The bike has police model handlebars. I do not have the originals. It has crash bars, and the right crash bar has a small dent. No other damage. I have a brand new, very comfortable aftermarket seat mounted on the bike. The original seat in very good condition is included. The original is shown in the photos. The bike is the original black with white pinstriping. The pinstriping has some cracking but still looks good. I know it's an over used word, but this bike has just the right amount of patina. Included are the original hard bags and bracket, not currently mounted, but that is easy. They match the black with white pinstripe paint. Of course the engine and frame numbers match. All keys are included. The original owner/service manual and tool kit are included, and even the original sales receipt! I am currently running an original 1973 license plate, and a vintage plate registered to the bike is included. Clean and clear Ohio title in my name. For sale: My 2003 Moto Guzzi California EV 1100. Better known as the “Italian Harley”. This is a Cruiser/ Touring Motorcycle or a “Bagger”. It comes with many extras. I need to sell it because I have to make room in the garage for the wife's car during the winter. Plus I have 4 other motorcycles to ride. Spares and extras: A complete spare exhaust header that’s in excellent condition. Two complete sets of luggage, Narrow bags and wide touring bags. The narrow bags had some scratches on them when I got them. I had them refinished with RhinoLiner truck bed liner. They look better than original and are almost bullet proof. A roomy top case that attaches where the small tool bag is on the luggage rack Three spare windshields of various heights. All in good or better condition A spare stainless steel windshield belt Spare Fairling has a few minor scratches A spare New clutch cable A spare New speedometer cable Oil filters and pan gaskets This model originally included lower fairings. I have them if you want them they are in fair condition. Service manuals. Copy of Guzziology is also included but not shown. These extras are attached to the bike and come with it:Owners Manual Lafranconi mufflers. These sound like a small block Chevy engine and look great. Highway pegs Engine guards (Chrome) Polished aluminum throttle body covers. I have the original black ones too. Lexan head light cover keeps stones from cracking the headlight lens. LED DRL’s these come on with the headlight to make you more visible in traffic RAM ball mount for your GPS and a 12V power socket ( cig type) Rubber tank protector Touring seat Moto Guzzi license plate “Petal” style brake rotors. These were installed by the original owner. They work great and look cool. Small magnetic tank pouch. This covers the fuel filler that had some bubbling paint around it from ethanol fuel It’s not that bad and the pouch covers it nicely. Exhaust “H” pipe. This makes changing the transmission oil a snap. Now you don’t have to drop the mufflers to get to the drain plug. I have the original heavy center muffler if you want it, but why? Gorilla Alarm System NOT INCLUDED: GPS Tool Bag Tools Clocks This is a big comfortable motorcycle that you can ride all day long. Runs great, shifts smoothly, smooth ride, all day comfort. Must be seen to fully appreciate. A rare and unusual sight on the road or parked. Prepare to answer a lot of questions. The speedometer reads 1500 miles. The original speedo was replaced at 10012 miles because of the needle dancing around. You can have the original one to verify the total mileage (11512). There are speedometer repair shops that can add the original miles to the new speedo if you can show them the original one. Tires are both have about 80% tread remaining. They are Metzler 880 Marathons. As is typical with these models the chrome on the rear wheel is peeling. With the side cases attached, you can’t see it. The wire wheels are laced so you can run tubeless tires. Roadside tire repair is quick and easy with a plug kit. Title is free and clear in my name. This is not a third party curbstone flip. Offered for sale is a rare 1971 Moto Guzzi "Ambassador" L.A.P.D. police bike. This is a authentic police bike with a numbers matching frame and motor. I have owned this bike on and off for over 10+ years. Back in November of last year it was knocked off its kickstand in a parking lot, and a electrical fire damaged the paint, and wiring harness. Included with this motorcycle are all the parts necessary to get this old classic back on the road, minus new tires, battery, and a 12 volt coil. This bike was my daily rider before the fire and a strong runner. The motor was recently checked and has 150 lbs of compression on both cylinders as well as a healthy drive train. The bike has its original chrome lined cylinders. I have keys to the working fork lock and tool box. Restored examples of authentic Moto Guzzi L.A.P.D. police bikes sell in the $15,000.00 to $25,000.00 range. Additionally, this bike was featured in the 2007 feature film comedy "Cain & Abel", which co-starred Flavor Flav. Title is ready to be transferred to the new owner.
