1971 Moto Guzzi Ambassador 750, An Ambassador Like Few You've Seen! - When we were contacted by the owner of this restored motorcycle about selling it on a consignment we were thrilled to say yes. We've partnered with him on several prior occasions in handling the sale of his always pristine and collectable motorcycles. Going all the way back to the nineties we sold his R90S that went all the way to Japan and we've sold several more for him since then. His bikes are always maintained and detailed in a meticulous fashion and this Moto Guzzi is just one more of his best. The bike seen in person is stunning but we have taken and will be posting lots of photos for those in distant places. This bike needs nothing but a new home. It has been professionally serviced at both the Cycle Garden in Huntington Beach, CA and Moto Guzzi Classics in Signal Hills, CA. Both are renowned as top notch Moto Guzzi experts and it shows. If you want a classic you can just get out there and ride or a real beauty to add to your collection you just found it.

Just one click with your mouse and you can own this very original, documented, 3 owner 1970 Moto Guzzi for $4999... Original owner rode and cared for this bike until late 2008 when he sold to the 2nd owner, whom I purchased it from and have not used it, but just have on display. A little book is included that the original owner documented gas fill ups, oil changes and service until 30,110 miles. 2nd owner here locally rode since 2008 and put on 7000 miles. I purchased on a whim just to display it, but would like to move on and offering it at less than my investment into the bike... It is ready to ride and enjoy. I need the space it occupies in an office here at work... This is a very original bike. Left side of gas tank has a crease/dent in it, probably from the fairing turning to hard. I personally would have removed the trunk, rack and fairing and made it a "naked" bike, but decided not to touch it. You are buying it as you see it here. Electric start, lights work, horn etc. Just a nice, low mileage, Italian, 45 year old shaft drive bike that is ready to ride.... for less than $5000. Included with the sale is the very first title issued for this bike on 7/8/1971 as well as the little book documenting service and the original air box and rubber boots… ***OPEN to foreign buyers who can arrange their own shipping/exporting from Grand Rapids, Michigan 49503****** *****PLEASE be prepared to back up your "click to buy" with payment per my terms. I can store the bike for 30 days or so while you arrange shipping. I suggest Keyboard Motorcycle shippers, or federal company at 1800-747-4100. You can also use uship.com where people bid lower and lower to haul this bike to you. You are welcome to come to Grand Rapids, Mi. and pickup, but bike must be paid for within 3 days per terms listed. Thank You******

I purchased this in November of 2008. It is a 1970 Moto Guzzi Ambassador 750 with a four speed transmission and is titled here in NC as an antique. Since I have had it, I have enjoyed riding it but I do not ride it as much as I used to. Now I am trying to simplify my life. It rides great and needs nothing. I bought it for $2500 and have put well over $3k into it. Most recently in December of 2012 I had a $2577 rebuild done to it. The whole bike was stripped down gone over and rebuilt by Jeff Gundlach of Raven Motorcycles. He hand builds bikes based on the Moto Guzzi engine and he knows these bikes inside and out. See the invoice for all he did. It was a complete tear down and rebuild where the clutch was replaced, almost all the seals were replaced and the bike was given a thorough going over including a carb cleaning and rebuild. It has had less than 1000 miles on it since the rebuild. When I got it the frame had already been lowered and the progressive shocks were in place. The fork had been rebuilt and the forward shifters and breaks were in place. The paint was done prior to me as well, and is just a simple flat black. I almost painted the tank an “old skool” green sparkle but I decided to let it be for now in case the new owner want to personalize it his/her way. With a fancy paint job this could be a five figure bike. After I had ridden it about a year I had the carbs rebuilt with new floats. I then put on the solo seat with the springs mounted to the frame. In 2010 I had new tires put on. The front is a Heng Shin and the rear is a Dunlop. I had the exhaust rebuilt with black fishtail pipes and baffles. Last year I put on the vintage DuoLamp rear tail light. It works as it should with running light and then the “Stop” when the rear brakes is pressed. I have put less than 1000 miles on it since the rebuild. I did an Iron Butt on this before the rebuild and before the new tires and did not have issues. Now with the rebuild it will be good for another 40 years. Feel free to ask questions and I will answer to the best of my knowledge. Deposit due at auction end then balance on pick up. “Pick Up” only and this will be for sale locally as well so feel free to come look at it. Note- You might notice the handle bar grips don't match. I took the pictures before I had changed it out. The left grip now matches the throttle side.

1971 Moto Guzzi SFPD AMBASSADOR 750 The Ambassador started out as a San Francisco police motorcycle. My nephew purchased the bike in the mid-seventies and rode it throughout the eighties and nineties. I bought it from him in 1998 and began restoration. I disassembled the bike and had parts re-plated, polished, re-painted, re-wired, or replaced. * Dave Blue of Blue's Cycle Service in Vancouver, Washington rebuilt the motor and transmission and reassembled the motorcycle. * Mark Etheridge of Moto Guzzi Classics did the paint. * Moe Moore of Cycle Garden provided the wire loom. Restoration was completed in 1999. Major awards and recognition includes: *Best of Show at the 1999 MGNOC National Rally held in Sipapu, New Mexico. *Featured Moto Guzzi at the 1999 International Bike Show held in Seattle, Washington. *Best of Show at the 2000 OVM (Oregon Vintage Motorcyclists) Bike Show & Swap Meet held in *Corvallis, Oregon. *Best Loop Frame at the 2014 Oregon Moto Guzzi Owners Club State Rally held in Odell, Oregon. *Best of Show at the 2015 Portland Moto Guzzi/Aprilia Bike Show & Swap Meet in Portland, Oregon. This Ambassador was originally purchased and used by the San Francisco Police motorcycle squadron. In the '70's Guzzi customized a version of the 750 Ambassador for the US Police Departments with Police accruements like siren, custom dash & controls, special saddles, saddle bags, wiring & gauges, and some other nice upgrades and modifications not available on the standard Ambassador being sold to the public. Before the Police Departments auctioned off motorcycles, they typically had to remove the siren and radio and police gear. One tell-tale sign that these bikes can be traced back to their history of law enforcement service; the ground down siren mount is still identifiable (which can be seen in the picture above). All motorcycle operational upgrades remain with the bike. In fact, the original police saddle bags for this particular bike are available. The '70's Loop Frame Police Editions are one of the most sought after classic Moto Guzzi motorcycles. The Ambassador has roughly 2,600 miles on the rebuild. The odometer indicates 20,454 total miles (=120,454). The bike runs excellent and can be an everyday ride. This black beauty has been meticulously maintained and cared for; and ridden judiciously. Gary rode this bike at the 1999 MGNOC National Rally held in Sipapu, New Mexico where the 28 year old Ambassador won the Best of Show over hundreds of other Moto Guzzi models from around the country. Clear title in hand.
