I've seen the hobby continue to grow not only on the internet and auctions but also with the amount of television shows, magazines and websites that are related to classic cars in some form or another. When the economy isn't so strong the classic car market holds its own. I've sold classic cars and trucks in both economic conditions. It’s all about supply and demand not about a good or bad economy. The classic cars that are on the rise are the cars that a lot of people want but there aren’t many on the market for sale. The classic cars that are on the decline are the cars that a lot of people don’t want anymore and there’s many on the market for sale. Of course, if the car is a rare model and spectacular it will command a higher price as I mentioned. Desirable factory correct classic cars that are documented with matching numbers always make solid investments. Custom cars have remained strong because each car is different from the next one. They each have their own character and there worth what people are willing to pay. Prior to this business I was just a blue collar guy who was working full time selling new and used Mercedes Benz. I was very passionate about classic cars and trucks so I decided to sell them part time. Although I had my used car dealer’s license I didn’t have my own dealership. This is an industry with no real guidelines and everyone's opinion is completely different. The average consumer doesn’t realize classic vehicles weren’t restored at the factory and are being restored by people in their garages. Everyone’s level of restoration experience is different and it shows in the restoration. An example would be a classic vehicle that's being advertised as an original model with matching numbers could be a phony with a reproduction trim tag and re stamped numbers on the engine block, etc. Another example would be a classic vehicle is being advertised as a full restoration when indeed only a few things have been restored. There are many classic vehicles listed for sale that have cosmetic and mechanical issues with such items as the body, paint, glass, lights, body hinges, gauges, window components, steering components, upholstery, engine leaks and tuning, radiators, transmission, rear end, brake components and suspension components. The consumers are spending thousands of dollars repairing the classic vehicles they've purchased after the sale. A bad purchase could turn into the buyer’s worst nightmare and be extremely costly! Hello, I have here a 1982 Yamaha XJ550 Seca (XJ550R) that is very close to fully restored condition. I've been slowly restoring it for 3 years now. This is the second one of these I've owned. I bought this one with a salvage title and it is was inspected and cleared last summer. It was supposedly dumped on the right side according to sales listing from when I bought it, but it either didn't do much damage or was repaired before I got it because all I had to replace was the brake lever and turn signal. It's got dual exhaust and a 6-speed transmission. I rebuilt the front forks in 2012. It was professionally repainted last summer and the guy did an excellent job. The tank emblems are NOS and were quite pricey. Brand new mirrors installed last month and brand new intake boots installed 3 weeks ago. New Uni air filters last summer. Changed the oil recently and it runs like a champ! Tires are in near new condition. Front brakes maybe have about 1000 miles on them, and the rear shoes about 100 miles. Comes with a box of some spare parts, but nothing fancy. The waterproof and UV resistant cover (pictured) is included with the sale. I also have an entire Haynes repair manual printed out in a binder and an additional CD that has what appears to be all of the Yamaha factory service manuals/specs/data for this bike, very helpful! Has some minor cosmetic flaws, which are pictured. The fuses were re-wired by the previous owner, but everything works like it should so I haven't bothered with it. 2006 YAMAHA FZ-6 I love this bike! If you haven't ridden one you should check it out. I was not planning on selling this bike and am still up in the air about it. I got a great deal on a larger bike from a friend so I'm listing this one for sale. New tires, new brakes, recent oil change. The bike has a slightly larger aftermarket wind screen which really helps on the highway, aftermarket exhaust, and integrated rear LED brake light and turn signals. In addition the bike has full SHAD cases. I never liked the look of cases but its really convenient when taking a passenger or running an errand on the bike, once you use them, you'll love them! Check this bike out and ride home today! FYI - In the 2009/2010 re-design Yamaha greatly cheapened this bike all around, cheaper components and a lower powered engine. The newer and cheaper FZ6R has full fairings and from what I can find online about 64-74HP. Many upgrades and much more! I'm moving soon and have to part ways with all of my toys. This is the best bang for the buck you will find in a drop dead reliable middleweight cruiser. The performance and accessories give this bike a custom look at an affordable price. Adaptability In some ways this bike is a Chameleon. Both the seatback/luggage rack and windshields are quick release. You can go from a stripped look with all removed to a 2up windshield and backrest in 1 minute. Do a web search for 'Paladin back rest' and 'National Switchblade windshield' for more information. Ride-ability If you're not familiar with the differences in models for Honda Shadow Spirits, there are shaft drive and chain drive. While you may think that chain drive is antiquated, you'd be wrong. Chain drive allows you to customize the gear ratio which in the case of this bike makes a dramatic difference in ride feel, RPMs at speed across the gear range. This is a 5 speed bike with lower ratios at stock. Changing the rear sprocket has made a world of difference at cruising speed. I went from a 41 to 37tooth steel rear sprocket. Prior to the change, it was 'revvy' at 25-35 mph local streets in 2nd and a bit even in 3rd, now the smooth low grumble of a proper V-Twin. At highway speeds, the whine of those revs is gone all the way up to 85mph which is probably as fast as you'd want to go on a middleweight cruiser. Safety/Sound Speaking of whine, many metric cruisers have a whiney exhaust note. The Vance & Hines Cruzer pipes improve the look as well as have a balance between loudness at open throttle to let drivers know you're there, but subdued low grumble at cruise. I left the baffles in and like this balance. Others have removed the baffles, which is up to you, but too obnoxious for me. Some Harley riders I've ridden with have said it sounded close to a Harley and larger than a 750cc. Performance Couple this with the Thunder Manufacturing Stage 3 Jet kit, this ride has extra horsepower to go. From Thunder Mfg., "We spent countless hours on the Dyno to ensure you the best jet kits possible. Thunder Mfg. jet kits are stage 3 kits designed to work with our air kits. " I have the matching tuned air kit so you're good to go! While I haven't put it on a dyno, there was a BIG difference in acceleration and power with little difference in fuel economy. That power is there when you need it, just rip the throttle. Reliability This machine has not had one problem. Period. Hondas are known to be bulletproof. If you'd rather be on the road than in the shop and have money in your wallet and not your mechanics or in the bank versus more expensive cruisers, you've found the best middleweight on ebay in NY Metro. For Sale: Private Owner’s 2017 Harley Davidson Road King, only 37 original miles, yes 37. New Milwaukee 8 engine with OEM Factory Installed Sreamin Eagle Stage III kit (see performance chart). I bought it brand new last fall (October, 2016). I purchased 5 year, transferrable, unlimited mileage factory warranty. The warranty also covers the Stage III performance upgrade, as they installed within first two months. Also added: Anti-lock braking system (ABS) Keyless Security FOB. Day-Maker Headlamp Day-Maker Fog Lamps Drivers Back Rest, articulating and adjustable, while riding (this feature will be the envy of every other rider. You will be able to ride forever.) Here is the basics: I paid just under $20,000.00 for bike, not including taxes, etc.. I then paid $1700.00 for 5 year extended warranty, which is transferrable. I paid $4,545.00 for Screamin Eagle Stage III kit. Paid $1,500.00 for Day-Maker headlamps and installation. $150.00 for Power outlet Accy. I also bought and will throw in the Harley Davidson bike cover. The bike is absolutely beautiful.. perfect as the day purchased. I rode it a bit around the countryside here in Texas, but the bulk of the 37 miles were put on, I believe while Harley was tuning up Stage III installation. So, all that being written: I have approximately $27,895.00, plus taxes, dealer prep, cover, etc… I will sell bike, but am not planning to give it away. Why selling??? I love this bike and actually owned a 2015 Road King prior to this.. I injured my right cornea, following Lasik surgery and am worried that riding may cause additional eye trouble.. Stage III builds on the Stage I and Stage II kits by bumping the Milwaukee-Eight’s displacement from 107 c.i. to 114 c.i. In order to facilitate that increase, the kit includes: cylinders, high-compression aluminum-coated pistons, piston rings, a cam (different from either Stage II cam), valve springs, tappets, and all necessary gaskets. Once installed, the kit’s engineers say that it will produce an impressive 39% more power than stock. Unlike with the either the Torque or Power Kits, the benefit is felt throughout the rpm range with no compromises in power delivery. As with the two previous stage kits, the Pro Street Tuner will need to be programed with factory-developed engine control module settings for optimal power delivery. The Screamin’ Eagle engineers said that they haven’t reached the flow limits of the new four-valve heads, which negates the need for a Stage IV kit.
