I am selling my one of a kind 1979 Kawasaki KZ1000 Pro Street style chopper. This bike has been extremely good to me and was my daily rider for several years. It is very reliable and very fast. It has approximately 24000 miles on the engine. The previous owner told me that he had a Wisco 1075 big bore kit installed when the bike had about 10k miles on it, but I never opened the motor to confirm. The new speedometer shows 106 miles (might go up a few). The last oil change was done at the 8 mile mark.This bike has a clear Florida title in my name.It was my daily rider for almost five years but I bought a new bike, and instead of neglecting it, I figured I would give someone else a chance to appreciate it. This chopper is in good condition. There are several small areas of chrome corrosion on a few of the spokes but you have to look very closely to see it. There are also a few small nicks in the paint on the tank area and rear fender that have been touched up but are there. Tires are almost like new. Two items on the bike that do not function for some reason is the alarm and the speedometer. I'm not sophisticated enough to troubleshoot electronics. Custom Chrome felt that in the case of the speedometer that an internal fuse might be the cause or that the unit is improperly installed. With respect to the alarm, all of the components are present and the key fob functions, but the alarm does not sound off for some reason. Again, I don't know whether the unit has any type of fuse inside it, but did not attempt to open it and try and diagnose it. Neither of these problems affect any area of the bike's performance to run or operate it on the road. Bike runs great and fires right up. Never had a problem in that regard. The bike only has a total estimated 1750 original miles or so. It had exactly 1000 miles when I bought it in October of 2011 and it still had the break-in oil in the motor and transmission. I changed all the oils and drove it several times to local bike shows and around town a few times, so I estimated fairly liberally the remaining miles and it's actually probably less. Please make certain to read all aspects of payment and delivery instructions. At the point of sale, you must have all of the balance due in cash or a U.S. bank certified check that is verifiable by contacting the issuing bank. Therefore, you must arrive to collect the bike during banking hours or wait until the check is verified. No other forms of payment will be accepted under any circumstances. The title is clear and will be signed and available at the point of sale. You are responsible for making pick-up arrangements once the auction is won. Lastly, although the bike has very few miles on it and is in good condition, it is nevertheless a used bike and is being sold as-is with no warranty of any kind. Not long after, Beemers with lights a' blazin' began appearing in the rear-view mirrors of traffic offenders all across the USA. The R1100RT-P "Oilheads" continuously demonstrated their utility as service vehicles. They out-handle, out-accelerate and out-brake more pedestrian Harley-Davidson and Kawasaki police mounts. Good wind protection and safety features such as ABS further qualified RTs as suitable service bikes. BMW further supported police use by offering special side and hazard lights, radar mounts, a high-output alternator, functional cargo space and other tactical equipment. Service vehicles have a finite lifespan, so a steady supply of ex-police bikes trickles out to the public via government-surplus auctions. So why buy an ex-cop RT? They are set up with rider comfort and utility in mind. Small touches like the broad solo seat make a big difference when you spend long hours in the saddle.
