That's because the bike is clearly inspired by – and pitched directly against – Harley-Davidson's Electra Glide Ultra.Many would be hard pushed to tell them apart, suggesting that Kawasaki has at least got the styling right. For all its kitsch appearance, the Voyager is a convincing rival visually.Where many bikes fail in taking on Harley, however, is in matching other qualities of the troubled Milwaukee marque. To be convincing, the Voyager must be an effective tourer and have a good stab at matching the less easily defined qualities that have persuaded more than 50 per cent of big-bike buyers in the States to buy Harley-Davidsons.Some of the detailing will be given nods of approval, such as the white-on-black, simple serif script on the clocks, the chunky chrome ignition switch and of course the overall look of the big V-twin engine, which looks air-cooled even though there's liquid and a tucked-away radiator.But when it comes to feel, the Voyager isn't quite there. The top box, for example, is made of flimsy plastic with cheap catches that were already rusting on my test bike, while the lock wouldn't defeat a nine-year-old. The clutch's biting point is vague, making tight manoeuvres harder work than they need be, while the engine lacks the rawness of a Harley. That's a difficult criticism to make (many riders would find the smoother Kawasaki preferable) but for me the essence of Harley is the balance between crudeness and sophistication.Like a Harley, the Voyager's top gear is overdrive-tall, poviding a relaxed feel at motorway speeds. But the height of the unadjustable screen cuts right across the field of vision for taller riders such as myself. Even if you are able to look through it, there's no way of clearing rain drops from it – with a layer of winter road sludge, forward visibility is going to be a real issue.If you can see over the top, there's a relentless vibrating turbulence at anything over 80mph, and since the riding position could well induce backache, longer distances can become more tiring than they should. The seat pushed me too far forward, while the forward footboards didn't allow me to take any weight through my legs.There's plenty of Harley-type equipment, including a radio with ambient sound compensation which is surprisingly clear even at high speeds, although it lacks RDS station recognition which is almost universal these days. There are no rear speakers though, the sound is a lot less clear for the pillion. The passenger's legs rub on the bike's paintwork, too, although it's a comfortable place to be. I'm not keen on the radio buttons elbowing the horn push out of its usual place, while the equally busy right switch cluster includes cruise control, which is useful if sometimes jerky when it engages.As with a Harley, there's a lot of heat coming off the engine. This will be welcome in winter but too much, I suspect, on hot summer days.The bike handles well; neutral right down to walking pace and very stable at high speeds – not like a Harley, for once, and all the better for that. However the underdamped suspension can bounce you around on rougher roads, while the 4.4-gallon tank means that you'll need to worry about refuelling after only 150 miles, despite the Harley-beating 40mpg the bike returns.What you get on the Kawasaki is a consistency of quality that Harley still struggles with. The finish and detailing are to a high standard generally (luggage aside) and you know you won't start seeing major components corrode as soon as you roll it out of the showroom. 2014 Ural T , This is a 2014 Ural T motorcycle I bought new as soon as it came out shortly before my wife and I managed to conceive a child. It really is a fantastic motorcycle all around, but I find I like spending my time with my kid a lot more than riding around on the motorcycle alone. And since I won't take the risk of putting my kid or wife in the motorcycle anymore, I have decided to put it up for sale. I love all Ural and Dnepr sidecar motorcycles, but all of the improvements they made in 2014 really make this a significantly better bike than previous years in terms of reliability, performance, and economy. Among other changes, 2014 was the year these Urals got electronic fuel injection, a new camshaft profile, larger air intake, sealed/replaceable wheel bearings/hubs, disk brakes at each wheel, and a hydraulic steering damper. The end result is more power, more torque, and a faster recommended cruising speed all with better fuel economy. So, unlike previous model years, this 2014 Ural T will do 70mph comfortably all day long and carry rider, passenger, and luggage up steep inclines at speed without a problem. It also seems to manage 30mpg (sometimes more and sometimes less) on average in different driving conditions which is a significant improvement from previous model years. All of these Urals come at sort of fixed MSRP pricing with additional shipping and setup (build) fees from IMZ-Ural who imports them from Russia in to Washington state. So, this bike new would be about or just over $16,000 out the door from even the most competitive dealer which is significantly more than the model years prior to 2014. I know I am going to have to take a loss though since I bought it new and have put around 1500 miles (2300 kilometers) on it over the last year. So, I have priced it to sell at $11,750 in the hopes it can go to a good home of another sidecar motorcycle enthusiast. The motorcycle was carefully broken in with the engine worked across all RPM ranges and absolutely no highway driving before the first service. I had the deep sump oil pan installed on the first service to improve cooling and increase the longevity of the motor. It also received a new and improved final drive seal on the second service that will be what Ural uses going forward in the 2015 models. The motorcycle starts easily, runs perfectly, and is ready for someone to spend a lot more time on it than I have been. Owning and riding the Ural has been a great experience all around and was well worth the money I am going to lose selling it, but I have already priced this at what I am confident is a great deal for the right buyer. This bike was custom painted by Justine Barnes who was the original painter for OCC on all there original theme bikes from the American chopper TV show on the discovery channel. He is famous for painting the POW MIA bike and the FIREMAN bike and many more. The fabrication work that went into making the gas tank and fender on this bike is truly a work of art! I've seen the hobby continue to grow not only on the internet and auctions but also with the amount of television shows, magazines and websites that are related to classic cars in some form or another. I strongly believe the classic car market is a great place to invest in. When the economy is strong, the classic car market is extremely strong. When the economy isn't so strong the classic car market holds its own. I've sold classic cars and trucks in both economic conditions. The reason classic cars make such a great investment is because people are crazy about cars, especially classic cars. These people aren’t just one age group but all different ages ranging from very young to very old. It’s a much diversified market. I've learned it's not just people in the United States but its people all over the world. Roughly 20% of my sales are from people who live outside of the United States. Some examples would be Canada, Australia, Mexico and Europe. Also from what I’ve learned roughly 20% of bidders at auctions are also people who live outside the United States. Over the years I've noticed that the higher quality classic cars have always commanded a higher price. Even people who don't have any classic car experience can recognize and appreciate attention to detail. Over the last 10 years the overall market has been very strong and I believe it will continue to grow. Certain classic cars prices are on the rise and others are on the decline. It’s all about supply and demand not about a good or bad economy. The classic cars that are on the rise are the cars that a lot of people want but there aren’t many on the market for sale. The classic cars that are on the decline are the cars that a lot of people don’t want anymore and there’s many on the market for sale. Of course, if the car is a rare model and spectacular it will command a higher price as I mentioned. Desirable factory correct classic cars that are documented with matching numbers always make solid investments. Custom cars have remained strong because each car is different from the next one. They each have their own character and there worth what people are willing to pay. Prior to this business I was just a blue collar guy who was working full time selling new and used Mercedes Benz. I was very passionate about classic cars and trucks so I decided to sell them part time. Although I had my used car dealer’s license I didn’t have my own dealership. Overall things were going just fine but my dream was to open my own classic car and truck dealership. This is an industry with no real guidelines and everyone's opinion is completely different. The average consumer doesn’t realize classic vehicles weren’t restored at the factory and are being restored by people in their garages. Everyone’s level of restoration experience is different and it shows in the restoration. An example would be a classic vehicle that's being advertised as an original model with matching numbers could be a phony with a reproduction trim tag and re stamped numbers on the engine block, etc. Another example would be a classic vehicle is being advertised as a full restoration when indeed only a few things have been restored. There are many classic vehicles listed for sale that have cosmetic and mechanical issues with such items as the body, paint, glass, lights, body hinges, gauges, window components, steering components, upholstery, engine leaks and tuning, radiators, transmission, rear end, brake components and suspension components. The consumers are spending thousands of dollars repairing the classic vehicles they've purchased after the sale. A bad purchase could turn into the buyer’s worst nightmare and be extremely costly! Up for sale is my GORGEOUS 2001 West Coast Chopper Dragon built by the one and only Jesse James himself. This is a RARE bike; as the dragon was one of the least produced bikes at the West Coast Chopper shop in Long Beach CA. This particular bike is of course one of a kind. It was built for famous model turned photographer Jack Guy in 2001. the bike was originally designed orange, but Mr. Guy had it changed to the current nearly perfect silver color with the tribal type stripes before purchasing for the original price of nearly $90,000!! The paint is amazing! This bike has been validated by both Jack Guy and the creator himself Jesse James; I have emails to prove. Jesse James said he built the tank (as well as many other parts) himself.It is titled as a west coast chopper (WESC) and has a 1W9 vin code on the clear Texas title. Don’t fall for the fakes/kit bikes and buy yourself this true shop built bike! The Paint shows like brand new, and the only minor flaws are the chrome mainly on the front wheel (light pitting) and one piece under the seat. Custom Construction Bobber up for sale. Just completed, runs and rides excellent!! I built this bike over the last two years, its a labor of love and I hate to see it go, but its time for the next project. I have rode it a few times just to keep the fluids moving and the battery charged. It isn't perfect or a show winner by any means, but definitely a great bike for someone who wants to ride and isn't looking to spend a ton of money. The frame is a Straight Up Choppers frame bought from Demon Cycles, zero up zero out, 30 degree rack, powder coated gloss black. The front end is a DNA Gloss Black 2 under stock length. Front wheel and tire is a 21x2.15 60 spoke chrome, 90/90 21. Rear Wheel and Tire is a 18x8.5 60 spoke chrome, 250. Motor is a 1997 Sportster 1200 with a five speed transmission painted black. Motor runs very strong, new clutch pack, new plugs, and all new gaskets, totally freshened up. New stock ignition, coil, and regulator. Custom fender fabricated by me with struts and mounts. Bung King 3.5 quart Round Oil Tank filled with synthetic fluids. Bung King Battery Box filled with stock equivalent Sportster Battery. Assorted Bung King Mounts used throughout the build. High Torque Starter brand new. S&S Super E Carb brand new and properly jetted. 3.1 gallon king peanut tank with custom filler neck and petcock located to get the most fuel out of the tank. Autometer speedometer properly calibrated and currently reading 22 miles. Wires Plus custom wiring harness, with brains and key switch/starter located at the top motor mount. Two buttons on the motor mount are starter and headlight dimmer. Handle bars are 12 inch apes with exile internal throttle. All tig welded. Everything is powder coated gloss black except the fender and tank, which are dark blue. I am sure there are some small things I am missing, but if you have a question please ask and I will be more than happy to provide feedback. I have receipts for all the parts. The bike will come with an MSO for the frame and a Bill of Sale for the motor. There is no warranty for the bike. I have hundreds of hours of labor in this custom bike, and again I hate to get rid of it, but its time for another project. I am willing to deliver the bike via trailer up to 150 miles or so for the cost of fuel. But if you are the buyer something else may be worked out or negotiated. It doesn't hurt to ask. Other than that Shipping must be arranged by the buyer. I will not pay for shipping the bike. The only thing I will be able to do if you arrange shipping is delivery to the shipper and that must be within 50 miles. You may pick up the bike also.
