This Virago had 3 owners in it's life. I bought it from a friend as an upgrade from a smaller cx5oo i had. I recently bought a Silver wing and need to sell this bike to a loving owner. It has 25k real miles on it and brand new tires, oil filter, airfilter, battery, and has been a great bike for me. I have been very excited to own a bike that had no scratches or dings.Everything one the bike is from factory, and has had no modifications. however, the day i bought it, i tipped it and got a small scratch on the fairing . It is valued at over $2k but i think a lower price is far more appropriate for a quick sale. I have no need for 2 bikes.

Two for one, these '83s are rare and were the result of three years of design. 70 degree vee-twin, with 36mm downdraft Mikuni carbs, and a 10k red line, Yamaha was ahead of the curve. 200 lb dry weight, five speed, mono shock w/dual adj.. Transverse hung water cooled engine, four valves dual plugs and exhaust per cycilinder. Shaft drive, cast wheels and a 4.5 gallon fuel cell. Fun little peaky bikes with nice touring amenities and great gas mileage. The parts bike was running on one cylinder last year, and I have title s for both, as well as the rack & books. hi selling 1983 xj650 seca turbo have clear title, this bike had alot of fun on it but tank rusted out so i replace tank and sealed it went thur carbs but could not get it running. it ran great turbo worked great first time i started when i got i started it up it smoked for a couple minutes than smoke stop and it ran great here more about this at Vince's Seca Turbo Page. tells you all about the bike. also has its own sound cause of the turbocharger. TURBOCHARGED MOTORCYCLES ARE HOT NEWS THESE DAYS, besides being the flashiest things on two wheels, not to mention expensive, and still fairly rare. With the Suzuki XN85 waiting in the wings, today's potential turbo owner has to agonize over just two choices: the Honda CX500TC, and Yamaha's new XJ650LJ, their makers' (and. the world's) first catalog-model Turbo bikes. There being just the two, comparisons are inevitable and, as it happens, most interesting. Both the Honda Turbo we tested last month and the Yamaha Turbo presented here have force-fed engines and high-tech styling. But they really are not very similar at all. In the real-world sense Yamaha's Turbo is a somewhat smarter effort than its rival precisely because fewer surges of brain power were expended in its making. Honda built the CX500TC to hook all the hardware junkies, enhance the prestige of its engineering staff, and to let everyone know what can be expected from a mere 500 cubic centimeters displacement when the filling is done with a tamper. For such reasons, and because the CX500 V-twin only reluctantly lends itself to tubocharging, Honda made its Turbo a fuel-injected, gadget-laden, technological tourde force. By contrast, Yamaha seemingly borrowed from the Honda advertising slogan "We make it simple" for inspiration when the XJ650LJ was being designed. They made it simple. BET YOU DON'T HAVE ONE OF THESE!!! I have a very rare 1983 Yamaha Seca 650 Turbo with OEM hard saddlebags for sale. Bike is in excellent condition and I would not hesitate to ride it anywhere. It is 100% complete, new tires, steel braided brake lines, E.B.C. brake pads, Euro Gauge cluster that goes up to 150 miles per hour. (U.S. models only went up to 85). This is a real head turner and would make a nice addition to your collection. Cycle World, June 1981Hot on the heels of Honda's CX500 Turbo, the Yamaha 650 Seca Turbo, despite its futuristic looks, was something totally different. With air instead of water cooling, four instead of two cylinders, and, interestingly of all, pressurized carbs in place of fuel injection, the blown Seca took an entirely different approach to what a turbocharged motorcycle should be.Many expressed doubts as to the durability of an air-cooled engine under duress of a turbocharger; those reservations would prove unfounded (80,000+ mile Seca Turbos that have never had major engine work or even blown a turbocharger are quite common). The pressurized carbs worked very well ("Best carbureted bike I've ever ridden" -- Bob Miller, President, T.M.I.O.A.).'82 Seca Turbos suffered from weak performance when they were initially introduced. Tired of being embarrassed by Honda CX500 Turbos in head-to-head tests Yamaha rushed out a "Power-Up" kit (free of charge!) that consisted of an inline boost pressure sensor/restrictor that fooled the turbo into thinking boost was lower than it was, and a washer that you stuck at the end of your right-side turbo exhaust muffler to increase back pressure. Both measures were designed to increase boost pressure and keep it in the cylinders longer. Peak boost went from an anemic 7 psi to a respectable 12 psi. The bad news for '82 Seca Turbo owners ('83 models came with the modification) is that Yamaha ran out of the kits in 1985. The good news is that you don't need it. Simply disconnect the vacuum hose leading to the wastegate actuator, clamp it shut, close up the hole in the actuator and experience the thrill of 14 psi. The poppet valve in the surge tank now serves as your "wastegate" to keep the engine from exploding. This also solves the problem of turbocharger wastegates failing to close, a common cause of power loss in Yamaha Turbos (blame it on the placement of the unit under the engine where it collects all sorts of road debris). The Power-Up Kit, thicker forks and a larger 5-gallon gas tank in 1983 helped sales somewhat, but a price drop to $3100 in 1984 (an '82 could be had for $2800) helped more to clear the floors of unwanted Seca Turbos. Average Seca Turbos go for $2,500-3,500. Low mileage bikes bring about $3,500 to $4,500 today. Showroom/museum examples may fetch $5,000, but Seca Turbos in such a state are extremely rare. '83 models, with their 1mm thicker forks and 1 gallon larger gas tanks bring more due to rarity and production numbers.
