Does that mean the chopper scene is dead? Of course not. It just means the scene is back where it belongs in the garages of hardcore enthusiasts. The silver lining of the chopper boom was the introduction of countless new aftermarket brands and components that allowed a new generation of bikers to build show-quality scoots without needing a full machine shop in the garage. This wild custom is the intersection of high-end hardware and the talents of a NASCAR mechanic with a vision. Built between 2004 and 2005, this chopper is long, low, and loud in every sense of the word. If the combination of a big twin, big rake, and bright paint get your motor going, this custom chopper may be your new favorite toy! While most 'professional' choppers are standardized, mass-produced packages that lack the intensity and attention to detail of a grassroots build, true customs like this chopper maintain a level of style and authenticity that can be tweaked and massaged to create an individual masterpiece. This build started with a rigid frame from Diamond Chassis, formerly based in Riverside, CA. The piece was stretched 4-inches up front and 6-inches out back for that classic 'long and low' look, furthered by an impressive 46-inch rake. That foundation is topped by a custom tank and steel front and rear fenders which feature the bike's calling card: a marbleized candy green paint complete with faux hundred-dollar bills and dollar signs buried under the clear. HOBO Speed and Customs did the work and it's hard to argue with the glossy results. It's a strong statement and one carried out with impressive dedication even the frame has dollar signs incorporated into various locations. Of course, there's a lot more to the look at than paint. The show gets started at the front where a 21-inch Weld EVO wheel wrapped in a 90/90-21 Avon tire steps forward, fronting a complete HHI front end with a smooth traditional fork finished in chrome. A single headlight mounts to the triple tree while, above, a dollar sign bridges the space between the handlebars. Those sleek and slender billet hand controls are from Cyril Huze, with all associated cables routed neatly through the bars. There are no gauges to speak of but the tank is topped with a flush pop-up gas cap to keep the smooth lines flowing without interruption. Climb onto the bike and a sculpted Hot Tails seats makes room for you and an embossed dollar sign, while visually connecting the frame and the rear fender. Under that fender, an 18-inch rear wheel with a fat 250/40R18 tire fills out the space while, to the left, a billet license plate frame is topped by a Paul Yaffe taillight. The heart of this Ben Franklin tribute is a polished 114 cubic inch V-twin from the talented crew at TP Engineering. As one of the must trust names in V-twin performance, you already know this is a serious piece. The spec sheet reads like a miniature race car build with terms like "forged flat-top pistons", "forged steel rocker arms", and "CNC-ported heads" gracing the list. The setup is good for an impressive 114hp and 121lb-ft of torque, balancing the bike's performance with its visual sizzle. A single 45mm Mikuni carb with a polished velocity stack handles fueling while, on the left side, an open primary with a custom dollar sign cover helps lighten the rotating weight of the driveline. If loud pipes save lives, this chopper is a modern day hero twist the wick and the V-twin howls through a pair of short coated pipes with angle cuts. Behind the 114, a JIMS 6-speed overdrive offers a gear for every situation while improving open road fuel economy. Nearly everyone that walks by this chopper stops and looks at it and, if the visuals don't grab them, the exhaust note definitely will once it starts up. Best of all, there are no disappointments when it's time to hit the road - every piece here is top shelf. Does that mean the chopper scene is dead? Of course not. It just means the scene is back where it belongs in the garages of hardcore enthusiasts. The silver lining of the chopper boom was the introduction of countless new aftermarket brands and components that allowed a new generation of bikers to build show-quality scoots without needing a full machine shop in the garage. This wild custom is the intersection of high-end hardware and the talents of a NASCAR mechanic with a vision. Built between 2004 and 2005, this chopper is long, low, and loud in every sense of the word. If the combination of a big twin, big rake, and bright paint get your motor going, this custom chopper may be your new favorite toy! While most 'professional' choppers are standardized, mass-produced packages that lack the intensity and attention to detail of a grassroots build, true customs like this chopper maintain a level of style and authenticity that can be tweaked and massaged to create an individual masterpiece. This build started with a rigid frame from Diamond Chassis, formerly based in Riverside, CA. The piece was stretched 4-inches up front and 6-inches out back for that classic 'long and low' look, furthered by an impressive 46-inch rake. That foundation is topped by a custom tank and steel front and rear fenders which feature the bike's calling card: a marbleized candy green paint complete with faux hundred-dollar bills and dollar signs buried under the clear. HOBO Speed and Customs did the work and it's hard to argue with the glossy results. It's a strong statement and one carried out with impressive dedication even the frame has dollar signs incorporated into various locations. Of course, there's a lot more to the look at than paint. The show gets started at the front where a 21-inch Weld EVO wheel wrapped in a 90/90-21 Avon tire steps forward, fronting a complete HHI front end with a smooth traditional fork finished in chrome. A single headlight mounts to the triple tree while, above, a dollar sign bridges the space between the handlebars. Those sleek and slender billet hand controls are from Cyril Huze, with all associated cables routed neatly through the bars. There are no gauges to speak of but the tank is topped with a flush pop-up gas cap to keep the smooth lines flowing without interruption. Climb onto the bike and a sculpted Hot Tails seats makes room for you and an embossed dollar sign, while visually connecting the frame and the rear fender. Under that fender, an 18-inch rear wheel with a fat 250/40R18 tire fills out the space while, to the left, a billet license plate frame is topped by a Paul Yaffe taillight. The heart of this Ben Franklin tribute is a polished 114 cubic inch V-twin from the talented crew at TP Engineering. As one of the must trust names in V-twin performance, you already know this is a serious piece. The spec sheet reads like a miniature race car build with terms like "forged flat-top pistons", "forged steel rocker arms", and "CNC-ported heads" gracing the list. The setup is good for an impressive 114hp and 121lb-ft of torque, balancing the bike's performance with its visual sizzle. A single 45mm Mikuni carb with a polished velocity stack handles fueling while, on the left side, an open primary with a custom dollar sign cover helps lighten the rotating weight of the driveline. If loud pipes save lives, this chopper is a modern day hero twist the wick and the V-twin howls through a pair of short coated pipes with angle cuts. Behind the 114, a JIMS 6-speed overdrive offers a gear for every situation while improving open road fuel economy. Nearly everyone that walks by this chopper stops and looks at it and, if the visuals don't grab them, the exhaust note definitely will once it starts up. Very Clean 2013 Suzuki SFV650 (also called Gladius)One owner (me), purchased new in 2014.Adult owned and well taken care of, this motorcycle has no issues and no damage, period. I have ridden this bike as a (fair weather) commuter for almost 3 years and approximately 6200 miles.It has given me zero issues!It has been garage kept and has never been ridden in any significant rain.Never raced or abused. The tires were replaced at 4600 miles with (high end) Dunlop Sportmax Q3s and the Oil (Synthetic only) and Air Filters were changed at 5000 miles.There is no service needed at all, just get on and ride! If you are not familiar with the SFV650, do some googling and you will find very favorable reviews as it is the successor to the very popular SV650 with a bit more style.This bike can work for a new rider or as a second motorcycle.The stock seat height is pretty low (30.9") which aids confidence.In my opinion, this bike should be considered over any of the new 250/300cc bikes from Japan and Europe as it has much more room to grow as a rider.The power is very usable and there is enough to excite pretty much anybody.0-60 acceleration times in the low 3 seconds are quoted, just think how much you would have to pay for a car that could do that!The bike is also relatively light at < 450 pounds wet. I have done a few very tasteful modifications.The significant modifications were all done by the dealer.I have all the original parts if you are not happy with the changes, you can revert them. Front forks were very soft on the stock motorcycle so they were updated with Race Tech: Gold Valve Cartridge Emulators and Hi-Performance Fork Springs. Google: Racetech sfv650 for some interesting information. The dealer did this install. Note only the front fork was done, I am happy with the rear shock and it is stock The front brakes lacked strong feel on the stock bike so they were upgraded to steel braided lines and HH Pads. All components are from Galfer. The dealer also did this install. Included is the rear braided brake line and upgraded pads but they are not installed.Tail Tidy - This cleans up the rear of the motorcyle nicely and includes an LED taillightGenuine Suzuki windscreen - It's small, looks decent and really helps the wind blast on the highway.IXIL L2X Hyperlow Slip on Exhaust - The V-twin on this bike sounds great and the IXIL makes it sound even better without being totally obnoxious. I get complements from guys on other bikes for how great the bike sounds. Keep in mind if this is not for you I have the stock exhaust (which weighs significantly more too). Lithium Battery - I love these because they are much lighter, can't leak and hardly require a battery tender as a Lithium battery is very slow to discharge.Air Filter was replaced at 5000miles with a BMC which can be cleaned versus replaced. The asking price is very reasonable for this bike, I like to give people a good deal and have both sides feel good about the sale.Take a look at the other SFV650s being sold by some dealers and you will find them significantly higher. The Concours 14 is built for stability right down to its chassis. The original ZX-14 monocoque aluminum frame has been reinforced, thickened, and extended in order to cope with the rigors of saddlebags and spirited two-up riding, and has 20% more torsional rigidity than the ZX-14's. The swingarm has been extended and the rear axle moved 30mm back, while the front axle has also been moved 30mm forward, resulting in an overall wheelbase extension of 60mm-- further improving stability and making the bike harder to wheelie. In place of chain drive is a Tetra-Lever shaft drive, which reduces squat, lift, and driveline lash. Though less slack traditionally makes a shaft drive system harder to shift smoothly, the Concours's slipper clutch counteracts that effect while reducing wheel hop during abrupt downshifts. Incidentally, the Concours is the only bike in its class with that race-developed feature. The Concours's 1,352cc inline-4 is smoothed out with a secondary balancer, and innovative variable valve timing optimizes power delivery by sensing rpm and throttle position. New injectors offer more orifices, but a smaller throttle bore (40mm vs 44mm) enhances low and mid-range throttle response (as opposed to the ZX-14's emphasis on all-out power.) A single exhaust replaces the ZX-14's dual system, and dual cooling fans replace the ZX's sole fan. KIPASS Technology Means No More Key Fumbling One of the coolest new features on the Concours 14 is KIPASS, (Kawasaki Intelligent Proximity Activation Start System) which utilizes a small FOB transponder to wirelessly enable the bike to start. Each Concours comes with two transponders, each equipped with a unique ID code which is recognized by the bike within a radius of 5 1/4 feet. Up to 6 additional FOBs can be registered to each bike, and the Concours will not start when the FOB is out of its range. The beauty of KIPASS is that if you leave a FOB in your jacket pocket, you don't have to worry about fumbling with keys... unless, of course, you misplace your jacket. An ignition switch assembly has four positions: Off, On, FSS (short for Fuel, Seat, Storage), and Steering Lock. When the FOB is within range, the switch is activated with a push and a turn. The switch can be removed when it's in the FSS position and used to unlock the fuel tank, the seat, or the saddlebags. If the transponder goes missing while riding, a red warning light goes off above 12 mph if the engine is turned off, the rider has 10 seconds to restart before it disables itself. Losing a transponder would be no different than losing a key (though this system can't be overridden by a locksmith, and requires contacting Kawasaki for a replacement.) If the transponder battery goes low, a meter displays a warning if it goes out, a small key can be pulled out of the unit to operate the bike. The KIPASS system proved to be hugely handy, and after a couple days of use we grew spoiled with the simplicity of not having to mess with a traditional key. A Touring Bike with a Rambunctious Soul Comfort is key when riding the Concours 14, and the smooth revving engine doesn't convey any hints of vibration or strain unless pushed to the upper extremities of its 10,500 rpm power range. In spite of its smoothness and civility, though, the Concours powerplant produces impressive numbers-- 156 horsepower and 103 lb-ft of torque-- that will satisfy the most power hungry of long distance travelers.
